0, 5 and Kiwami 2 are the best ones in my opinion.

0 is my favorite and also the first Yakuza game I played to completion. 5 is the biggest Yakuza game and while the pacing is an issue at times, the stakes feel like it has never been bigger and serves as the true finale of Kiryu.
Kiwami 2 has my favorite villain and female lead in the series. A very intriguing story and good combat. A huge step up over Kiwami 1.

6 is good but serves more as an epilogue to the Kazuma Kiryu saga. The combat feels jankier than 5, 0 and Kiwami 2. Some plot elements feel tacked on but overall a very enjoyable conclusion.

Kiwami 1 while good has many gameplay flaws to call it great. It feels quite unpolished after coming from 0. But I like the story.

4 is like 5 but everything is jankier (gameplay, story and character interaction) and stakes are lower. It has some ridiculous plot elements that is ludicrous even by Yakuza standards. It introduces one of my favorite characters in the series though and while everything in 4 is worse than 5, his part is the only thing that is done much better.

3 is my least favorite in the series and mostly for gameplay reasons. The story is actually pretty good and it has some very memorable moments. My favorite sidekick in the series as well. The gameplay and side content is the worst though. Combat is a tedious blockfest, sub stories are the weakest it has even been and generally this is the Yakuza game that truly shows it's age.

I'm playing Like a Dragon right now taking my sweet time. I thought I will wait till the PS5 version but I caved and started playing the PS4 one. I'm at Chapter 10 right now and so far I think it ranks up there with the best. I don't wanna jump to conclusions yet so I will wait until I have beaten the game and the dust settles.

Episode 2 and 3 will definitely be out by 2030 but whether it will be Empire and RotJ or TLJ and Rise is what the big question will be.

Regardless the big name games from this year will easily make a 128 field from games released in 10 years. 12 games a year leaves a lot of room for literally anything to get in.

How does Sonic Mania SFF Super Meat Boy again? Just because the two are 2D platformers that couldn't be more different in style?

Meat Boy is just really weak. Being the guru pick gave it a high seed and a very good bracket placement and yet it failed to even break 70% on Slay the Spire. Literally Yakuza 0 (love the series but even I admit it is very weak) broke 77 on The Witness. It did almost 10% better than Meat Boy on a game of similar strength.

I'm pretty sure Skyward Sword and 3D World will decimate half the field in GotD2 which quite frankly speaks more about the bracket than their strength. Regardless it would have been way more interesting to see something like FFXV vs Skyward Sword or 3D World vs Bayonetta 2 than literally everything with so much as a slight name recognition breaking 80% in Round 1.

I think people very clearly forgot Uncharted 3 and GoWIII was from the last decade as you mentioned. Another notable game that missed the bracket is Far Cry 3. When you have games like Dying Light and Subnautica, these are real head scratchers. I wish we could see the actual nomination tally from GotD2 to see why such games were excluded because it is unfathomable to imagine these not getting more noms than the two games I mentioned and many many more that made the field.

That is all up to Allen if he is still running things around in 2030. It was asinine to even include Persona 4 Golden and Pokemon HGSS as you saw how much damage those two did as clear proxies of the original in their respective bracket. Persona 5 Royal if included would do the same.

It's a fun topic, because it's so hard to call at this point. No one would have guessed Skyward Sword would miss the field a decade a go. Even the big releases like TLoU2 might have had a third next generation game released later that made us forget in 10 years that this one was in fact released this decade.

There was obviously a 2 games per series cap in GotD2 that nobody asked for. Skyward Sword, Mario 3D World, Dark Souls II, Final Fantasy XIII missed the cut because of that. While those games are clearly in the lower tier of their respective series, they would have been in way more entertaining matchups than the Obra Dinns and the Edith Finches of the bracket.

Playing Like a Dragon right now and it blows Hades out of the water so that's why it is winning because it is the outright better game.

Literally every indie and their mother made it to Game of the Decade 2. I think Fall Guys has a shot.

Cold Steel easily for me even though SC is maybe the best game in the series with CSIII being a contender as well. On average though CS was more enjoyable. FC was too slow and 3rd felt like a fanfic epilogue game more than a mainline entry.

Cyberpunk will easily make a contest field of 128 games from 2020-2029 even in its current state. You guys talk as if this was getting inside a Best Game Ever Contest. It doesn't take much or to be worth much to get into a Game of the Decade contest.

GotD2 had a much much weaker field than GotD1 so I suspect GotD3 will be even weaker.

If games like Dying Light, Call of Duty: Black Ops and 6000 indie games can make the field, anything can make a GotD field. Cyberpunk is not a question.

It was the first game I had on Saturn. I wouldn't say it was a very good game then and certainly not now. Even Panzer Dragoon Saga, a game I loved back then from the same system has aged like milk.

Final Fantasy VII Remake

Miles Morales should have been a $30 expansion and should have been included as a definitive edition for the full game on PS5.

Games reusing assets and barely adding its own should be DLC instead of a near full priced game.
