Since Rock/Roman looks highly highly unlikely now at Mania, Cody winning is absolutely the correct choice here. Cody was polarizing in AEW because of his EVP status but in WWE he is the biggest babyface Roman could possibly face that is a legitimate threat to his title reign. I still believe Roman retains at Mania to break 1000days in his title reign and eventually drops it to Cody at SummerSlam. I feel like Cody/Roman is gonna be a long term feud extending past Mania.

Now, Roman is probably gonna face Sami at Elimination Chamber and as red hot as Sami is, he hasn't been built nearly to the level of a main eventer much less a WrestleMania main event, not yet anyways. Sami is cheered and loved almost unanimously because he's just so entertaining, is excellent at his role but he has gotten over mostly in a comedic role. If enough time is given for him to develop as a serious World title contender, he could absolutely main event WrestleMania one day, kinda like Daniel Bryan. Right now, is Cody's time.

Probably one of the best overall Royal Rumble PPVs I have watched. Rhea Ripley winning like an absolute badass all the way from #1 although predictable was just so so good to see.

AEW has been crap lately but I just caught up on Dynamite from Tuesday and holy fucking hell at MJF's promo. Probably the best wrestling promo I have ever heard in my life. Jesus Christ.

AEW has become unwatchable this year whereas WWE under Triple H has made the shows more exciting than it has ever been in years.

Haven't played the new trilogy but the metacritic and the art direction similar to what I have seen in Blood Money made it clear for me.

You're in the minorities of minorities there then. Slog is the last word I'd expect from even the harshest of Suikoden II detractors (which again are very rare) used to describe the game. Understandable if turn-based JRPGs aren't your thing but then your very next sentence describes the original as better. But then again, there are people in this world who prefer a two dollar steak to fillet mignon so you really cannot rule out any kind of wild take.

I used to like Silver Star Story by a small margin because I had more nostalgia towards it. However, over the years I have come to appreciate Eternal Blue more after replaying both games. The story, characters and the world are easily the best part about both games. Eternal Blue also has a darker and grander plot which I came to prefer over time.

Majora's Mask lost? What the hell I didn't even know people liked THPS2 here. This tournament has been weird.

The difference is ARR is a 200+ hour experience and for me the game never really picked up even at the end. I was just glad it was over. I heard the expansions are much better but I have no energy to spare anymore for an MMO, maybe ever.

Tales of Graces, bad as the childhood arc is, it is still considered the strongest part of the story (lol) and I agree, bad as it was, it was still better than the rest of the game.

So hence why I called your post, LMS-like because that dude posts the most random comparison with his current obsession (and by current I mean, something from several years back or maybe even a decade). I thought you were falsely advocating (without having played I assumed at the time) the already preposterous take on Suikoden V having a "horrendous start" when in actuality, its start has more things that happen than many other JRPGs have in their entire fetch-quest storylines.

Because I read through that post without seeing who the user was until I saw it was you. And this is not a shot against you or anything it is just an observation. You seem to be jumping on anything that has some sort of negativity bandwagon and accentuating it. It almost feels LMS-like, where you are generating your opinion based on other people's takes rather than forming your own based on your experiences.

Also at the time of my posting, it wasn't clear to me that you have even given the game a shot because of the way you posted it. The style of post was very LMS-like and the examples you used like A Realm Reborn (literally an MMORPG) and Tales of Graces (where the script is likely written by a 10-year old) certainly didn't help with that matter.

I'm not targeting or attacking you like Maria Taylor was doing in that FE Engage topic (which again contributed to my notion of you accentuating any negative press about a game) if that's what you think I'm doing. I'm just pointing out that this is an observation I have come to make over the last couple of topics I've seen you posting in.

Suikoden V does not have a "harsh opening". Sure it doesn't go into full gear right away but it starts off with a very compelling plot arc doing its job with amazing world building expositions all the way up to the coliseum tournament (still quite early in the game) where you are actively rooting for Belcoot to pull through, all the while mysteries are unfolding which happens to be ominous foreshadowing for things to come. Then the game goes into full gear. The beginning is only "slow" in comparison to what happens after. If anything the middle stretch is where things are a little "slow" but the various mini-arcs are all done very well and keeps you engaged throughout.

Really like to emphasize that the slow or so called harsh opening is grossly exaggerrated for people who haven't played the game.

The only reason why this isn't getting a solid 10 from me is because the pacing is not as tight as Suikoden II which may be a result of Suikoden V being a much longer game. I really hope this game gets a HD Remaster, which I can now say because there is a non zero chance.

13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim

After hearing all the buzz about how incredible the story of 13 Sentinels is, I'm surprised it ended up living up to the hype if not even exceeding it. This might be the best story I have experienced in any medium in quite a while.

In retrospect, the overall plot, characters and method of storytelling was structured in a way to make it compelling for a sci-fi, mystery, anime sucker like me so it was a baffling that I overlooked such an entry till now.
