This might have dethroned Uncharted 2 as my favorite Naughty Dog game. It has definitely surpassed the original in every conceivable way.

Neil Druckmann and team gets all my praise for one of the most intriguing experiences I've had in any media for a while.

I'm still on my rocking chair staring at the credits with tears streaming down my eyes. What a beautiful game that was.

Sure it pandered to PC culture and feminism in some ways and Abby looking unrealistically buff (or juiced) in a post apocalyptic world but that is about the only bad thing I can point out about the game .

All the characters have very believable motivations and Joel death being the way it was, was necessary for the game to have the emotional impact it otherwise wouldn't have delivered.

Yeah. The game blows and has no business beating the likes of Suikoden and Lufia II.

Are people voting for Crash 1 actually voting for the game or as a proxy of the series? Serious question here.

Deserved winner. FFX actually places higher on the list but I thought it didnt need help with points and turns out it didnt. Really disappointed to not even see DQ11 on the list when stuff like Ocarina of Time snuck in.

About 80 so far. Might be time for me to put it down.

Xenoblade DE is like my 6th or 7th replay of Xenoblade though so maybe I can keep it on hold and just try to finish Divinity II before TLOU2 hits.

Would have been TLOU2 easily if I didn't get spoiled already. Although it wins by default for me this month, I'm not sure this will be something I play as soon as I purchase. I'm slowly going through games I haven't played or beaten from the GotD2 list, that interests me. Currently playing Xenoblade Definitive Edition and Divinity: Original Sin II and I'm about halfway through that game and not sure I'll be done with those two by the end of the month.

L-Block

I played Sky 1, SC, 3rd, Cold Steel 1, 2, didn't touch the fan translations (nor do I plan to) and didn't have a problem at with following and enjoying the plot of Cold Steel 3. Nor did I feel like I missed out much with spoilers on the Crossbell games since I don't think I will play those games unless they get localized anyway.

Good god man. I couldn't put up with 6 hours of that game and I played and liked every game in the series before it.

Well. I don't know who it was but I only tried Shadow Hearts because someone over here a long time ago mentioned good things about it, the main character being awesome (and yes he is) and the battle system being turn based with input system kinda like a simplified Legend of Dragoon.

Played the first game. Liked it. Played the second. Absolutely loved it. Played the third. Hated it.

So yeah the board 8 hype giveth and the board 8 hype taketh (most indie and visual novel games) away

And another thing I used to find really annoying around here as much as I like the Trails games (not love though, like the board) is, the Sky games being calls Tits. Everyone went along as if saying that was so cool but in reality it was just so lame. I haven't seen it recently though, thank god for that.

I dunno if that was a thing on the internet because board 8 is really the only message board I use. If it was, I think that just makes it worse.

Yeah as much as I love the game and think it deserves all praise it gets, I seriously cannot help but cringe every time I see someone post GotY 2010, 2011, 2012, 2016, 2020 even if the people are being a good sport about it and not mean it in an elitist way.

B8 is actually pretty annoying about Xenoblade so there's no real hype for it to live up to for me.

There is a lot of B8 games that havent remotely lived up to expectations for me but Xenoblade is probably the only one that actually surpassed even the hype for me. It was that good.

Playing the DE and it is as good as I remember it being. Timeless.

A borderline 'good' game despite a LOT of flaws. I really enjoyed the endgame and how the story unraveled despite its many many WTF moments (in not a positive way in a lot of cases) but boy was the gameplay an absolute chore especially in the beginning.

Disappointing coming from Kojima. I expected a lot better.

Point is Im really questioning how some of these entrants made the bracket. Like Dying Light really? Wow. Am I missing something or does the game suddenly become GotD material around the halfway mark?

Also. How the fuck did Dying Light make it into this contest?

Im playing this game right now and it is terrible. I believe Im about 30% through the game. It is boring and repetitive as hell and is really testing my willpower of making it a point to beat every entrant in a games contest.

I believe games from previous contests that really tested my patience apart from WoW were The World End With You (for its grating music and pretentious storytelling), and Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate (I just really sucked at that game but I came to love MHWorld).

I might be forgetting a few but I dont recall ever having this much of an issue of not liking a game that has appeared in a contest before. I still have about 15 or so (mostly indies) I need to beat so maybe there is worse yet to come.

I love how indie games got absolutely shredded in the meat grinder this contest. Hope this serves notice for the next games contest of the ridiculous 2 games per series rule that has led to a bracket with the most bottom of the barrel entrants in a contest ever.

Who really wants to see something like Super Mario World Tannering something like Terraria in the next games contest? Or like Chrono Trigger 99-1ing What Remains of Edith Finch rather than Divisive or lesser entrants from their series which could potentially have decent strength like Skyward Sword, Dark Souls II (I wasted a nomination for this when rules didnt state anything about a series cap) Mario 3D World, Xenoblade Chronicles X or even Final Fantasy XIII.

Let this contest serve as a message that scrapping in residue from the very bottom of an empty tank does not make a good bracket, while hilarious the first time it wont be nearly as well received if it happens a second time by wasting prestigious bracket spots for potentially thrilling and debatable matches.

Also Persona 4 Golden (a personally top 3 game for me) and HGSS had absolutely no business being in this contest. Thank god it stopped at two remasters and we didnt see stuff like Ocarina of Time 3D, Chrono Trigger DS, Final Fantasy VIII Remastered and such. Jesus Christ.

All in all a very good contest which I believe could have been way better with better bracket placements and without the series cap rule and of purse 2 remasters/definitive edition port/shot-to-shot remake being in the bracket

This in no way is me trying to start an argument about what genre a game/series is.

Im just genuinely curious to know what is considered platformers and what is not because I never really thought of Mega Man, Contra and Metroid as platformers.

I would consider Mega Man games as 2D shooters more than Platformers.

Are Devil May Cry and Platinum games 3D platformers?

Also Mega Man X as a platformer is really stretching it.
