Impact Week 3, October 2011-- now current with Tom's week take that edwards I can so keep pace with him if I only have to do 1/4 the shows.

SHOWTIME:

We open the show with a tournament match between Brian Kendrick and Jeff Jarrett that goes to a draw when both are knocked out for a 10 count after Daniels runs in, blindsides the ref, and beats them both with a chair until the ref wakes up. They stay down for a 10 count as Daniels taps his head knowingly... they're both eliminated, that dastardly fiend has paved himself an easy way through round 2! (55)

In the ring, a memorial is being held for Jeff Hardy, who died in "an unfortunate accident." Ric Flair is watching from backstage... he looks away from the TV to a nearby mirror... caution tape Orlando Jordan is there again, and tells him the funeral service... is actually for Flair. Flair looks back to the TV and is horrified to see his image on the screen where the Jeff Hardy pictures once were while Orlando Jordan laughs (86)

Daniels d. Chris Sabin to advance to round 3. (66) Backstage Ariel is showing D'Lo Brown tarot cards... with the four of swords after the death cardit can only mean that Jeff Hardy is not in fact dead! Only D'Lo can help him! D'Lo being a security guard now clearly isn't interested and rubbernecks down the hall. (56)

Glacier d. Eric Young for the TV Title! (57) After the match he explains that he doesn't actually want the title, and gives it back to Eric Young... who is confused (58)

Bobby Roode d. Steiner to advance (72) After the match Ariel is backstage again, this time trying to explain the tarot cards to Hulk Hogan. Only the American Hero Hulk Hogan can help Hardy! Hogan stares blankly until she stops talking. She sighs and leaves. (61)

D'von tries to get a match with The Pope from Sting... Sting says if he gets to round 3 maybe he'll meet him in the tournament-- D'Von lightbulbs (67) D'Von d. James Storm via lowblow to advance (62)

Mickie James is in the ring... as the true HARDCORE COUNTRY all of her title defenses from now on will be in TAYBLES matches. She invites any knockout to try and face her! ODB responds to the challenge! (69) Mickie TAYBLES ODB to retain (72) (Mickie's Hardcore Legend gimmick gets 86 aw yeah)

Pope comes out for his tournament match... Hernandez isn't showing. The camera pans to Hernandez's locker room and there's a "gone 2 South Africa" sign on it!?! The ref begins to count as Pope frantically shakes the ropes Warrior style to keep his heart rate up and he advances by count out. (71) Sting d. Gunner to advance (82) Kurt Angle and Samoa Joe are in the crowd, walking to the front row, showing their tickets to security guards... bah gawd they're not supposed to be here !!! (81) (Angle's "Outside Threat" gimmick gets 84. Joe's "Invader" gimmick gets 86)

RVD vs. Ric Flair. Flair fights valiantly, but at some point in the match "Cross the Line" caution tape falls from the ceiling onto Flair. Flair, horrified, does the only thing he knows how to do in these situations, the Flair Flop, and is hit with a 5 Star Frog Splash before he gets up. RVD d. Flair to advance (82)

74 - Success! lol Angles

(Raw gets a mere 76 aw yeah we comin for you WWE)
(And yes I know Ariel was a WWE name and she probably couldn't use it here but shut up "Salinas" doesn't fit the character)

WWE SUPERSTARS
Wk. 4, Oct. '11

Pre-show: Dibiase d. Primo (61); Sid/Finlay d. Reks/Hawkins (52)

-Match: Riley v. Chavo
Chavo says Gory Bomb to Riley's face.
Rating: 60

-Chavo is back, and he's going to prove that WWE has been holding him down all these years. NO MORE!
Rating: 76

-Match: Eve/Kaitlyn v. Divas of Doom
DOOOOOOOM
Rating: 59

-Match: Hurricane v. Sin Cara II
I do believe this is the on-screen debut for Hurricane perhaps. If so, it is a rather uncermonious one, as he jobs to the rapidly declining rudo.
Rating: 52
Poor chemistry

-JTG comes out to put himself over, Bryan comes out to shut him up.
Rating: 70

-Match: Bryan v. JTG
Bryan is on fire tonight, ripping through JTG like paper.
Rating: 60
Great chemistry

-Slater is STILL out to prove himself despite the string of losses this campain has netted him. He's a better tag wrestler than the Hart Dynasty ever was!
Rating: 53

-Match: Hart Dynasty v. Drew and Slater
That may actually be true, but you wouldn't know it from this match, as the freshly reunited Harts roll through the random heel team.
Rating: 72

Post-show: Harts have a moment (57); AJ/Kelly d. Maryse/Aksana in a bra and panty match (38)

Overall: 66 lol angles

FROM THE BOOKERMAN

-Chavo is just ridiculously good to pull those kinds of scores at his level of overness. I'd love to get him an ME push.
-Speaking of which, I have GOT to do a better job of pushing Bryan. I'm doing all I can to have him ready to main event WM like planned, but he has trouble staying in the uppermidcard right now.
-Holy Toledo, that main event could've done okay as a Raw sub-main. I'm sure the Harts and their 100 tag experience helped a lot but I am going to ignore that and give all the credit to mah boi Slater.
-man what do you mean "too long given purpose" explain to me how 12 minutes of Maryse gettin' nekkid is a bad thing

NEWSWIRE

-Impact pulled down a very respectable 79, with Anderson/Steiner, Styles/Sting, and Love/Mickie all receiving good reviews.

-Lucha Libre USA has become a talking point after their excellent Flashpoint show. Sydistiko's title win over RJ Brewer has helped put the promotion on the map as they rise to Regional.

-Salamander Jones is pretty ugly.

-Stacy Carter has shown up in A-1. Thought she like quit the business forever because drama?

-Teddy Long and Cena BOTH organized and won separate video game tournaments backstage at Smackdown. Nobody is quite sure why Cena was even there, but folks seem happy about it.

A few easy ones, but literally everybody whiffed on the main event. I didn't think it was THAT hard, Harts had momentum and this isn't FWA with Godhead Slater. Yet. >_> A couple of you got the bonus, and that is gonna wind up being a difference maker. Lopen makes as resounding a statement as one can reasonably expect on Superstars, and CPU manages to stay on the radar. Also Tom I don't know if you know this but overness doesn't actually matter for angles unless it's rated on overness, even if your product is highly focused on overness like WWE. Given Riley/Chavo wasn't all that high and your previous statement of "only put ME guys in angles" I was thinking you may have thought that. It's all stat, length, and various penalties/bonuses for momentum/drugs/etc.

I'm pretty sure it doesn't matter at all-- it's easy to check, though.

It's time FOR RAW:

Harvey Whippleman opens the show with an open challenge (41)

Christian d. Harvey Whippleman in a 58 minute endurance match (29) AJ comes to the ring and says she loves Harvey Whippleman even though he lost and wants to marry him! He accepts and they have an improve 30 minute ceremony (36)

Christian beats AJ down with a ladder for 15 minutes! (54) He beats Harvey down with a chair for 5! AJ comes to the rescue and accidentally hits Harvey with a chair!!!!! (46)

Christian d. AJ in a 5 minute squash (57)

43 - Failure. Harvey used far too much. AJ Slightly too much. lol angles. More storylines.

Huh I guess you're right then. Harvey's entertainment is 73, his overness is 25, and while he has low momentum and a bad gimmick I doubt that accounts for all of that.

Just to make sure, though, I try it with Percy Watson who has decent momentum and gimmick, overness 45, entertainment 72

It's time for SUPERSTARS:

Percy Watson opens the show with an open challenge (61) (low morale but yeah it must matter to some extent-- though I'm unsure how much)

AJ says she was a fool to marry Harvey, she really wants to marry him! Percy accepts! And there is a 30 minute ceremony! (45)

CM Punk is tired of this crap and challenges AJ to a Wedding Ring on a pole match. He wins! There will be no more weddings here! (71)

61 - Watson far overused. lol storylines. lol angles

In any case, it seems to matter a lot less for interviews than for matches, which is why I assumed it didn't matter in SWERVE.

Just to put it to a rest, I do one more show, this time I use the data editor to edit Matt Striker's (since he seems to be in neutral zone for gimmick and momentum) entertainment to 100 and overness to 0. I do the same with Percy but 100 overness and 0 entertainment.

Striker makes an open challenge (42)
Percy watson does as well! (73)

So I guess overness matters a good deal more. Well, I learned something I guess.

WWE SMACKDOWN
Wk. 4, Oct. '11

Pre-show: Percy d. Bateman (49); Rosa/Tamina d. Alicia/Kaitlyn (50)

-Match: Bryan v. Carlito
Carlito puts up a solid fight, but can't overcome the technical mastery of Bryan.
Rating: 64

-Barrett comes out and applauds Bryan after the match. Barrett asks if Bryan really is the best in the world. Bryan assents, and Barrett continues. Bryan doesn't SEEM like the best in the world. He was part of the most impactful stable in WWE history, he was US Champion, and he is the current holder of MitB, but yet he's still jerking curtains and piddling about on Superstars. Barrett suggests he put the briefcase on the line at Vengeance to prove himself. Bryan thinks about it and declines, what with that being a dumb idea. Barrett suggests Bryan's afraid, and can't back up his "best in the world" talk. That strikes a nerve, and Bryan agrees to put the contract on the line at Vengeance!
Rating: 77

-Match: Hart Dynasty v. Dibiase and Young
The Hart Dynasty reunion tour rolls on as they dispatch the heels with ease.
Rating: 59

-Chavo comes out to remind us that he's a Guerrero and a fighter, and that this is the greatest portion of his career starting now. Sid comes out to shut him up, claiming that he's half the man Chavo is.
Rating: 68

-Match: Sid v. Chavo
Even Chavo can't carry this match, but he does pick up the win.
Rating; 59

-Ryder hobbles out and complains about Cody's attack last week. If that is the way it's gonna be, if Cody's serious bro, he'll fight him for the IC title after all! WWWYKI
Rating: 74

-Bra and Panty match: AJ v. Natalya
Natalya wins because bullying and stuff.
Rating: 63

-Sin Cara's on his way to the ring for the next match, but when he gets to the trampoline spot, Sin Cara II pops out from under the ring and tackles him out of the air! Sin Cara II points at him and then runs away.
Rating: 71

-Match: Sin Cara and Zeke v. Christian and Brodus
The faces already had a rough battle ahead of them, but the pre-match attack makes it that much worse for them. Brodus is able to almost single-handedly get the win.
Rating: 75

-Christian and Brodus debate the merits of a post-match beatdown for a bit. Brodus decides to go f-WEEEEELLLLLLLLLL. IT'S THE BIG SHOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWW. Yes, it's a big bad Show tonight, and he lumbers down and cleans house on the heels!
Rating: 87

-Sheamus walks out to join Show, laughing. He reveals Show as his tag partner for Vengeance, and challenges Christian and Brodus to pick on HIM!
Rating: 88

-Match: Yoshi v. Barrett
Barrett is on point tonight, salivating over what he sees as an easy win for the MitB contract. Yoshi can't really keep up.
Rating: 66

-A video package plays to hype the recent developments of Cody and Ryder.
Rating: 67

-Match: Finlay v. Cody
It's a non-title match, but it winds up not mattering as Cody gets a clean win.
Rating: 72

-Match: Orton and Taker v. Awesome Truth (Guest ref: Henry)
Whoops, forgot to hype up this ME. Oh well, needed the angle time for other things. Henry is perfectly content to let Orton and Miz destroy each other, and prolongs the match with slow counts and turning a blind eye to a few questionable actions. Between their ability to cheat, their fluidity as a team, and Orton/Taker having some lingering distrust, Awesome Truth are able to get the upper hand, until Orton hits the RKO OUT OF NOWHERE~. Orton takes this opportunity to stare down Henry and question his rulings so far. Henry takes this opportunity to hit the World's Strongest Slam on all four men in turn. Miz technically gets the win.

=====NEWSWIRE=======

-Sorensen and Kash failed to impress on the latest lackluster edition (48) of Xplosion.

-The main highlight of the most recent NWA taping was Colt Cabana capturing the TV title from Scorpio Sky. Some may note he used to be NWA champion and that this is a step down. This depresses us.

-Seth Rollins has defeated Damien sandow for the FCW 15 title in a solid bout. Could the internet darling be headed for the big time soon?

-Daivari has already started improving FCW's product, helping carry their latest show to a decent score.

-RoH has put on another very impressive show, with Rhino/Haas and Hero/Benjamin serving as a great double main event.

-Internet fans have not given up on Drew McIntyre. Despite the stalling of his push, he is still considered by many to be a rising star with loads of potential.

-There are also rumors that WWE management are high on Percy Watson. Presumably his string of televized losses is the beginning of some sort of push?

-Several old stars have stepped forward in the last few days to announce impending retirements. Konnan is said to be hanging up his boots, and it looks like we're finally rid of Ed Leslie and Miss Jacqueline.

-Jay Lethal's latest conquest is the ICW Championship, after a hard-fought win over Dan Maff.

WWE PRESENTS IN YOUR HOUSE X: VENGEANCE

Pre-show: Chavo/Slater d. Finlay/Low Ki (67); Carlito d. Gabriel (59)

-WWE Title: Alberto del Rio (c) v. John Cena
Back and forth match. Ricardo's constant interference is a thorn in Cena's side, but the plucky manager eventually gets an AA for his troubles. The distraction allows Del Rio the upper hand, but Super Cena eventually manages to take him down again. Cena gets the STF locked in! Del Rio's gonna....LOOK IN MY EYYYYYYYYES. The Punk/Nash/Masters triad saunter down to the ring. Cena correctly ascertains that they're looking for a fight, and drops the STF as they enter the ring. He trades blows with Punk, but Masters gets the Masterlock from behind. Punk goes to town on the vulnerable Cena while Del Rio eats a Jacknife. Security eventually runs out once the heels hit a finisher train on Cena, sending Punk and friends on a tactical retreat into the crowd, but the damage is done and Cena has to be helped to the back. Match is ruled a no contest.
Rating: 74

-A bedraggled Del Rio finds his feet in the ring. He hoists his title and smiles, pleased to still be champ. That smile immediately fades when Kane's pyro and music hit! The Big Red Machine slowly makes his way down to the ring, where Del Rio is frozen in fear. Kane walks right up to him and delivers a chokeslam! He poses over the fallen champ before leaving.
Rating: 83

-Diva's Title: Kelly Kelly (c) v. Beth Phoenix
Not all that much of a match. The GLAMAZON takes it to Kelly and gets a resounding victory.
Rating: 44
Poor chemistry.

-Beth takes a mic and utters the words "Pin-up strong" before leaving. Her exit is interrupted, however, by one Cheerleader Melissa! Melissa thinks that Beth and Natalya are taking this way too seriously and need to lighten up. Excellence doesn't mean glowering and being a ***** all the time! She'll be happy to prove it in the ring. Beth just scoffs and leaves.
Rating: 63

-US Title: Dolph Ziggler (c) v. Mason Ryan
Ryan's power offense comes up a weensy bit short, and Ziggles is able to get a clean win.
Rating: 65

-Cody Rhodes is backstage with his shiny IC Title Belt. He says that tonight's victory is the next step of bringing legitimacy back to the championship, and that nobody will ever be able to take it from him.
Rating: 72

-Bryan's out first for his match. Barrett comes out with a mic, and praises Bryan's courage to put the MitB on the line. He's grateful Bryan is so recklessly stupid, and assures him the MitB will be in good hands after tonight. Bryan grabs a mic of his own, and cuts him off. If he loses tonight, he loses. He's been stuck in a rut lately, so maybe a bit of a challenge is what he needs. A bit of danger. Something that's going to sharpen him into the next World Champion. He hopes Barrett can provide that challenge.
Rating: 84

-MitB on the Line: Daniel Bryan v. Wade Barrett
Barrett indeed provides that challenge. Bryan, however, has an answer for everything, and comes out on top, looking significantly more confident.
Rating: 70

-Ryder is backstage this time. He had no beef with Cody, but Cody keeps getting in his face. If that's how it's going to be, he has no problem being Internet Champion AND IC Champion! WWWYKI
Rating: 77

-IC Title Ladder Match: Cody Rhodes (c) v. Zack Ryder
It's a rough fight, with both men being pushed to their limits. Cody's mean streak gives him just enough edge to get the win.

-Match: Sheamus and Big Show v. Christian and Brodus Clay
The faces control the majority of the match. The finish, however, comes with Brodus and Sheamus in the ring while Christian and Show brawl on the outside. With the ref distracted by Brodus applying a choke, Christian sneakily grabs a chair and cracks it over Show's back! Sheamus is able to regain the upper hand in the ring, but with Show taken out of the equation, the numbers game reigns supreme, and Christian is eventually tagged in for the win.
Rating: 82

-Tag Title Match: Air Boom (c) v. Otunga and McGillicutty
The heels got nothin' here. Air Boom cruises to a fairly mundane win.
Rating: 66

-Cena is shown backstage receiving medical attention. Looks like he's not hurt too bad! Suddenly, Punk and his goons show up and continue what they started earlier! Cena looks to be in serious trouble, but Morrison and Dreamer are around the corner to make the save. They tend to Cena as Punk and Pals run off.
Rating: 88

-Match: Undertaker v. R-Truth
Truth is obviously TERRIFIED of this man, even as heels fighting Undertaker go. He's completely unable to function for the first minute or two of the match, but after he takes enough offense, something snaps, and Truth goes crazy.....er. Truth fights like a cornered animal, and somehow manages to outsavage Taker. The match becomes less of a match and more of a brawl, but neither man will let themselves stay down. Truth finally rolls out of the ring to grab a chair, and beats Taker savagely with it! The ref calls for the bell, but Truth has made his point, and laughs maniacally.
Rating: 89

-Truth continues to cackle, pleased at overcoming his fearsome opponent! He gets in Taker's face, telling him that he got GOT. Truth turns to go, but lightning strikes the ring! He yelps like a little girl and is halfway up the ramp before anybody blinks. Taker does his Taker sit-up, and Truth looks absolutely terrified before running away.
Rating: 100

-World Title: Mark Henry (c) v. Randy Orton v. The Miz
Miz makes a point of playing Henry and Orton off each other, and gets away with it for about half the match before they gang up on him and put him through the announce table. This of course is a setup for Miz to come back dramatically for the finish, breaking up an Orton pin attempt. Miz immediately gets an RKO for his efforts, and Orton gets THE LOOK. He backs up and goes for a punt! Miz slips it, and Henry powerslams Orton! Henry clotheslines Miz over the top, hits the World's Strongest Slam on Orton, and that's that.
Rating: 86

Post-show: Kane/Morrison d. Punk/Nash (65)

Overall: 81 lol angles man too bad this show will only ever be seen by 3500 people

Nobody made the gutsy no contest pick on Del Rio/Cena, and the bonus didn't help anybody much at all. ....Was Henry the guy who last took out Kane? Coulda sworn it was Del Rio. Now I gotta come up with a new motive for Kane I guess. >_> Upper midcard was understandably tricky. Anyway, Lopen puts in a strong showing, and the future refuses to change, despite Bidoof and Gr8 also rocking out. Lopen, for this challenge, please go ahead and post your decision here. There will be times when I want to keep your choice secret, but this isn't one of them. As a reminder, you get three "points" to spend however you'd like to change NXT.

-(1) Pick somebody to be a rookie. (Reminder: I can't get guys from TNA or any other Cult or bigger fed, I have a few other minor restrictions, and I am hoping to avoid breaking my pact with RoH.) If I can't get them, I'll let you know and give the point back.
-(1) Pick somebody to be a pro.
-(1) At any point during the NXT, PM me and tell me who the next elimination must be.
-(3) Once the roster is revealed, PM me and choose the eventual winner.

No predictions yet- I don't think I've finished the card. Either that or I failed to properly store my writeup. Any thoughts on the prediction contest? I'm already planning to make bonus points work like actual bonus points. I'm also going to slow the pace down again, but it'll speed up again towards the end of the leg. At the start of the legs, I want to get lots of people predicting, but as the field narrows and my buffer gets closer to where I'm going to have to stop and wait, I try to keep it going at a good clip even if it means skipping a couple of people unlikely to win.

Wow I screwed the PPV up hardcore. I had such a great plan for the win, too!

Anyway, I'm greatly enjoying the prediction contest. I think the way you're doing it is fine; no point in waiting for people unlikely to win to predict.

Alternatively

Pro: LA Park

Pro: Mordecai
Rookie: Jay Lethal

I'm actually kinda torn on which one is better. Or maybe the Mordecai/Jay Lethal and Akebono combo.

If anyone has any input on what I should pick I'm all ears. I'll probably finalize the picks tomorrow.
