I really liked it but I had 2 complaints. One, at times Wonder Woman almost felt like a sidekick in her own movie. She did all the heavy lifting, but Captain Kirk set the agenda. And two, could we please have CGI'd Ares's face into something threatening once he put on his armor? They just kept the actor's regular face and voice and it didn't fit.

I fully disagree that Wonder Woman felt like a sidekick btw.

Kirk kind of set the Agenda in broad strokes and then Wonder Woman literally ignored him as soon as they got to the front. Like, literally. Every scene was her no selling his desires at every turn. No man's land. At the gala. At the base. He had the knowledge she lacked to lead the way a bit but yeah, I don't know how you got that impression at all.

Literally note that I called out that Steve Trevor was going to be the problem with this movie in my first post in this topic.

He sucks.

Her serves almost no purpose except to diminish Wonder Woman. I hate him so much in every iteration.

It's funny, because I have the exact opposite reaction. I thought he was a good character who in no way diminished Wonder Woman. I left the theater thinking she was absolutely amazing. Why did you feel that way in the movie?

I totally get hating Steve Trevor in some iterations of the comics, but this was basically an ideal version of his character that does exactly what he was meant to in the best way. He doesn't diminish her at all unless you think someone being inspired and/or helped by someone else makes them a worse person.

How, though? I didn't even give it much thought as a simple plot device to inform a cut off island that there were some big happenings going on in the world. I've never read a stand alone comic of the character (her and supes never interested me much) so maybe I am missing something.

Isn't that what happens in almost all variants of the character?

Steve Trevor is in trouble and gets to Paradise Island accidentally, Wondy saves him, she learns of trouble in the outside world (usually Ares in the end), then makes her way into the world regardless of what Steve wanted

In comics.

Grant Morrison just did a version of this story in Wonder Woman: Earth One and then with Rebirth they retold her Year One again.

In Rebirth, she apparently like hallucinated most of her New 52 experiences which is a pity because thats basically the only run on the character ive ever liked.

Wait. What.

A hallucination? What in the hell?

I'm actually having a hard time trying to figure out what in Rebirth is a retcon and what actually mattered. Like, apparently Barry Allen has only just started dating Iris in Rebirth?

I know a lot of it stuck like Batman (I think), Green Lantern, and Aquaman stayed the same, but it seems like there's just some specific things that changed and some that didn't. Because it's supposed to be a mash up of New 52 and the original earth, right?

I dunno, I can't keep up. lol

Its not a mash up - honestly they probably should have just rebooted because it would be less confusing.

With Superman - due to like reality resonance, some manipulation by Ozymandias and Mr Mxylptzlk New 52 Superman and Lois have MERGED with Pre New 52 Superman and Lois and yeah its about as dumb as it sounds but all events experienced in New 52 by him actually happened.

Aquaman, Green Lantern, and all of the Batman chatacters nothing really changed.

Flash had Wally show up and Barry is dating Iris for the first time but I actually think none of it is inconsistent with what happened in New 52.

Wonder Woman decided to have Wonder Woman revealed to have hallucinated fucking damn near everything, including her new origin as the Daughter og Zeus and her costume being silver rather than gold manipulated by hera and/or The Watchmen. She and Superman alone have this sort of convoluted nonsense to deal with.

What's the deal with Wally then? Is he Wally from pre-52? Some Wally from the future? How do all the Titans know each other already?

Why does everyone act like Rebirth fixed everything and took it back to the pre-52 continuity if it didn't?

I don't get this at all.

The way it was explained to me was that it took it back to its pre-52 roots and put both continuities together, thus bringing back things like the OG Titans being a thing, Clark and Lois being a thing again, OG Wally West coming back, Green Lantern and Black Canary being a thing again, among other things.

He did die - and then he took over the old supermans body somehow but then Jon cried and it all got "fixed" somehow. I read the story and as a big superman fan i feel compelled to share that i thought it was awful.

Wally is from Pre-New52 and seems to indicate that parts of the old world that didnt make it to New 52 were merely stuck or forcibly forgotten thanks to...the watchmen.

The big thing is a lot of Didios New 52 "rules" like no happy endings and the general sidelining of the titans and all got ended and a bunch of costume changes were made back to more "iconic" looks and this is apparently all peoplr wanted out of DC. Apparrntly what matters is that Superman is married to Lois Lane and that Wonder Woman be made of clay and not the actual quality of the writing.

It was already deep into post-production. I mean, if this was Suicide Squad with 300 hours of footage being edited by a trailer company, that would mean something, but this is much more like Wonder Woman, with very little extra footage with which to work.

And there's a huge difference between being involved and being the boss.

Thought WW was good. Lol at Ultron being the best MCU villain earlier ITT. Loki, and honestly the very recent Ego might be up there. Most like Guardians 1 more than 2, but 2 had a way better villain, and one of the best in all the MCU at this point.

Anyway, WW was good. A bit overhyped imo, maybe a solid 8/10, or 7.5. Gadot was good, I liked her in Fast 4/5/6, as much as people dont really want to admit those are entertaining films. Pine was ok, had good moments and had some "uh oks". By far the best from DC in their universe, like not even close.

Ego's master plan was awful. There were absolutely no stakes to it. For me, that hurts Ego. Furthermore, this system of making characters villains of the week with no staying power is turning me off to Marvel movies. At some point, these villains need to stick around, develop, evolve in response to their battles with the heroes. Stop killing characters off for no reason.
