I don't know that it was totally pointless because it resulted in some really poignant moments from Chizuru because she's aware of it (An having to erase the writing on her hand after she took the pill was heartbreaking, for instance). Now the fact that it was resolved within like 5 chapters is kind of weird for something they built up to for a long time, but that's the only real issue I'd take with all of that.

They said at the company that they were all happy with the two remembering each other. The reason they erased the traces from other people's lives was so that they wouldn't learn about ReLIFE, which obviously wasn't an issue with Chizuru.

Bloodborne:

more chalice dungeons

Beat Pthumeru 4, Loran 5, and Isz 5.

I think I did in fact cheese Amygdala. After trying to replicate my strategy from the normal version of the fight failed, I just stayed behind him the whole time and attacked his tail. i don't feel too bad about it though

Loran 5 was pretty easy, and most of Isz 5 was the same, but shout-outs to the Layer 3 boss.

Ebrietas we meet again I see. Again, my normal version strat did not work. Trying to stay at her side just had her constantly turn with a side-swipe so that was no good. I don't feel like I cheesed this one though, had to work out my plan and then execute it without many mistakes. Ended up evading everything (or healing on the occasion I messed up) until she tried her body slam attack or whatever you'd call it, then I could get a good 4-5 hits on her head. Repeat until about 50% where instead she'd stagger and I could get a visceral attack that would drop her to about 30%ish maybe. Then she'd generate a black aura thing and I could try to get some more hits in, but once she was done SSJing up, goddamn laserz.

My counter to this ended up being the Old Hunter Bone to help roll away when the laserz came. I also swapped my runes from +10% HP/+5% HP/-4% Damage to +10% HP/+20% Visceral/+10% Visceral This should have worked but I got a bit panicked and got myself devoured at about 10% HP. Or rather, I could survive that attack, but the frenzy timer would go off before I could move again and that would get me.

The actual success surprised me though. First half of the fight went as usual, got the visceral like usual, but during the black aura part, I got better positioning and just DPS rushed it. Then comedy happened. She started laserz but I kept my DPS up because I was pretty sure I'd win the race. I did, but... laserz still went off. So I had PREY SLAUGHTERED followed immediately by YOU DIED. I was a bit anxious at whether that had counted. The items popped up on screen, but I never accepted, and the echoes did get added before my death. So I was a bit uncertain what would happen as I ran back to the boss arena. But all was well. And the items came too and the echoes were retrievable. So all was well~

that's amazing. usually trying to DPS race a boss is not an advisable strategy but hey if it worked out then I guess that's all that matters.

ranged attacks work really well on ebrietas. I found this out when I continued my gun-only character deep into postgame chalice type stuff. simon's bowblade in particular has such great damage that I simply had to keep dodging and shooting her in the head until she died. I forget which builds you were using but I think it was one of the physical ones. skill I guess? unfortunately there's no real way to supplement a non-ranged character to make them good at ranged combat later. probably your best option would be to pick up the repeating pistol and upgrade it to max. even then I'm not sure if the damage would be good enough to make shooting at bosses really work.

amygdala strategy that you used is more or less the one yeah. as i mentioned it's easy to figure out even by accident. if you stand next to its legs/tail the only thing it can do is jump straight up and try to land on you... but it's also programmed not to land on you if you're not moving. so you can just stand there and wail on it with no consequences. takes a bunch of hits but it'll eventually die.

Yeah, I was shocked it worked. If there's one downside to the Blades of Mercy I've noticed it's that the range can be pretty small. On all attempts but that one, it'd whiff on maybe half the attacks because it wouldn't hit high enough or something. But the one that worked, either I stood in a better spot, or maybe got incredible positioning with the raised portion of the arena to overcome that, but somehow it worked, I landed everything while the head was low during the aura part. At that point she was so low on health that when I noticed she was transitioning right into A Call Beyond I was like "...why not, let's see if this somehow works. Worst that happens is I go back to the original plan that would have worked if I hadn't lost my cool before."

Definitely wouldn't have worked if I didn't switch to the Visceral Damage runes either, I needed every point of damage for that to work out.

visceral attack damage scales upward with skill so that's a pretty interesting strategy that likely only worked so well because you were using a skill build. as for hitting the enemy or whiffing with melee attacks... are you playing locked on? unlocking the camera makes it a lot easier to line up your attacks and control exactly where you want them to go.

that being said 'a mix of both' is the optimal strategy for sure. it just requires the skill of being able to lock and unlock the camera freely and the ability to control the camera all while doing the other stuff involved in playing the game (avoiding getting killed, killing your enemy)

I usually have the camera locked on, but I found I had more success dodging in that fight with it off, so it was unlocked for that.

Not sure if the timing for sidesteps v rolls is any different or it was just in my head, but the charge attack in particular I seemed to dodge a lot better with rolls.

your base movement speed is higher with the camera unlocked

it's possible that unlocked movement helped you get out of her tracking range more easily

the roll and quickstep have the same number of iframes so any difference beyond that comes down to player preference. but the base movement speed of unlocked play and the free directional control of the roll makes it objectively better than the quickstep if you're looking at more than just the iframes.

quick step does have one advantage. in regards to counter attacking, your quick step auto adjusts your charging distance based on the direction of your dodge. so just for example..

quickstep forward -> r1 : normal charging attack

quickstep sideways -> r1 : character takes one step forward, then executes a charging attack

quickstep backwards -> r1 : character takes two steps forward, then executes a charging attack

(this is not the same for every weapon but it's just an example of how one weapon moveset might change based on your quick step)

basically it sets you up to be in a same counter attack position no matter which way you dodge away from the target.

the rolling attack, no matter which direction you go, actually has no frame of reference. usually the r1 after a rolling dodge is just an attack in the place where you are standing. this is the downside of the full directional control.

so while the unlocked roll is objectively better for dodging, the locked quickstep does provide one benefit in that it attempts to automatically guide your counter attacks.

though in the end this automatic guidance is only useful if you feel that you need the game to control your character for you. if you can space and time your own attacks correctly then there's really little value in having an auto guidance system. it's like including an auto pilot when you already know how to fly a plane manually. it can also cause problems because the auto guidance isn't perfect. sometimes when you're locked on it causes your character to move and attack in ways that result in them missing instead of hitting.

the unlocked play "downside" of needing to aim your attacks could also be seem as a positive... it allows you to aim your attack exactly where you want it to go. so yeah I would honestly say with optimal skill level and perfect, consistent play that unlocked all the time would be better. but it's incredibly difficult to do this and it doesn't always provide a benefit. so knowing when to stay locked on for ease of use and when to unlock for needed precise controls ends up being the important factor for optimizing your own play based on your own skill level.

one of the drawbacks of the Tsuredure Children manga is that so many of the guys look kinda similar when all the panels are black and white so it can be hard to tell which character it is at first

the girls at least have fairly distinct hairstyles so I can at least tell who's who there but with the guys it's hard to tell unless it's someone like Gouda

Anyway, I finished volume 8 of Tsuredure Children. I thought this was a good step up from volume 7, which focused on some of the lesser characters. They got back to basics here, but they've also started to have a lot more chapters that focus on more than just two characters at a time.
