Stream thoughts below, split up by line.
The Druid overkill card is pretty decent - maybe not broken enough for constructed, but its high power, and maybe fits in a big Druid with Gloop Sprayer?
Oondasta looks fantastic - theres the obvious Hunter synergy, allowing you to fix any beasts you draw early in a Kathrena deck, as well as Zombeasts. Druid and maybe Warrior could have some synergy too. Theres also just generic synergy with Charged Devilsaur and Witchwood grizzly.
Shaman legendary is fine, doesnt seem like one Id be disappointed to pull
Mage hero power package seems like its potent if you can get it to go off all at once, but thats a lot of low power cards for not a whole lot of payoff. The Spirit making your hero power into shooting star seems overcosted but maybe fine against aggro?
They finally printed a discolock payoff card! I still dont think it will be any good. 1 mana/discard/2 damage whirlwind is nice too. If they print a low cost card that does things when discarded I might be convinced though.

I agree Oondasta looks cool it's just annoying to me they keep focusing on the top end of hunter when they used to always go on and on about class identity

apparently hunter's class identity is getting cards that don't synergize with their hero power at all because blizzard doesn't want to let hunter players play hunter

IIRC Hunters getting Zuljin as a hero legendary this set so that should dictate the direction they go with the class

hearthstone is that one game that I always enjoy for like 40 minutes when I decide to come back to it, and then it becomes miserable

literally cannot figure out how I'm the ONLY person on ladder playing aggro right now but every single other player is using incredibly heavily anti aggro deck

why would they be doing this

statistically speaking they should be mostly playing other heavy anti-aggro decks where most of these cards are worthless???

played a bit of arena and had a lot more fun at least. drafted warrior, didn't even get offered single supercollider but whatever. the mere threat of the card existing forces my opponents to play around it constantly.

you can definitely "feel" that warrior is the best class in arena right now; I'm getting a LOT of BM from other players, sometimes as soon as the match starts. because of people stalling out turns as much as possible I had to stop, since I'm heading to work soon, but I got up to 5-1 already and I haven't really had any close matches except the one I lost.

I think Fluffy is just the placeholder name that some site uses whenever an English translation isnt immediately available.

I really like the direction they're going with warlock discard.

"discard your lowest cost card" is just so much more controllable. You never discard Gul'Dan, and if there's something you absolutely can't discard, just play it first; it's cheap you might even be able to play both in the same turn.

Just way less RNG; I'll have to see how it plays, but at first glance I really hope this is how they do discard from now on.

Just put Devilsaur Egg into your deck, or alternatively just a bunch of high health minions.

Shudderwock is basically "volcano, the deck" so if Volcano can't clear your board they probably lose. (You still need to kill them before turn 14 or so when they'll combo off, but that's not too hard if they can't clear your board).

Source: played Shudderwock to legend. Loses to anything with a big bucket of HP, like...I was terrified of Nightscale Matriarch.

Dirty Rat should be moved to Classic so we have tech options against decks like Shudderwock.

Also, moving Coldlight Oracle to Wild was a mistake.

I was really surprised to see that, honestly. people have said for a long time that they would probably never do targeted discards because the discard mechanic is based entirely around the idea that the chosen card is random. once you're able to choose which card is being discarded, all of the discard related cards become MUCH stronger. I swear I even remember blizzard related folks saying this on the reddit when asked in the past.

guess they changed their minds or at least decided it was fine to do it, even if it will make a bunch of cards stronger in a way that can't easily be predicted.

well at least we can expect timely nerfs within about 4 months after this card is printed...

6-1 now. geosculpter yip is a pretty cool guy in arena. this was the first chance I actually got to play him since drafting the deck. it's great because ideally he comes down late in the game when your opponent has like 1 card left... then it's like, they have no way to deal with an 8 health minion that generates infinite value, so they just concede right away, I guess.

I lost against a barnes priest yesterday who was actually playing at least 4 different minions in his deck, but drew barnes on curve, played him on curve, and got exactly y'shaarj in spite of the fact that he included other minions and reduced his chance of getting y'shaarj

that felt pretty bad

I know he had more minions because the y'shaarj was summoning stuff like mountain giant and sylvanas

worst part is that it was still a really close game and I know for certain I would have run over his shitty deck if he hadn't highrolled to such an extreme.

Blast Wave is my favorite card in the set, so far. Doesn't even seem all that great, and I fully expect the first time I play it I'll kill five minions and get Pockey Galaxy x2 and Glacial Mysteries x3 or something ridiculous. But I still like it.

So i drafted an AWFUL warlock deck and went 6 wins. Almost 7 but my opponent topdecked owl from no hand.

I follow by getting an even worse mage deck. At 2-1 I run against a warlock who drafted Malygos, Juraxus, and malygos.

Come on.

I'm sitting at 7-2 right now with paladin and almost afraid to keep going. my opponent got spiritsinger umbra from pinata, and then got rin from playing a second pinata, which umbra then triggered, after playing the elemental which deals 3 damage to a random enemy minion, which they got from the dumb mage spell that adds 2 random minions to your hand.

getting the seal instantly was basically a nonfactor but that 3 damage helped them stabilize on the board, and rin came down as a taunt a few turns later when they desperately needed a taunt to stay in the game (I was so ahead before that it took all of this RNG nonsense combined to flip the game)

like what else can possibly happen after that. I don't know, and I don't want to know.

but I do feel pretty good about getting to (at least) 7 wins with the worst arena class!

okay queuing up at 5 AM on thanksgiving morning was not the best idea I've ever had. now that was my longest wait time, BY FAR, I've experienced in hearthstone. almost 3 full minutes to get into an arena match against a warrior who I outplayed every single god damn turn.

ending with a truesilver champion lethal to the face because I held onto it due to wanting to squeeze full value out of my previous weapon, even when the situation looked dire. really satisfying, really rewarding game of hearthstone there. and I'm now at 8-2 with the WORST CLASS IN ARENA.

I have a hogger in my deck. My opponent has a Elise, Barron Geddon, and cairne in his deck. Yeah geddon Is not as good in shaman but it's still great and cairne is great too. Elise is average.

I still won because lol shaman.

Like, I'm looking through the list of spoilers, and very few cards look like they'll be obnoxious RNG.

There's Blast Wave, which looks pretty niche. (very few decks will run that)

A couple of dicovers; while it is random, discover allows so much player control that I don't really think of it in the same category as RNG.

I will grant you, Graal the Shark looks really fucking obnoxious, and I sincerely hope that it is not competitive viable. (Even if it gets played in a deck with only one minion, you could still draw that minion before Graal. There's no way to avoid the gameplay being shit if Graal is the meta).

Card this set are absolutely not more RNG focused, people bad at HS just dont know how to read. Theres gonna be some cool new skill based archetypes as a result of this expansion.

Ive seen it one time climbing this month and Im currently rank 7. Deck seems to have been edged out a bit. Midrange isnt as dead as people made it out to be. Giggling nerf was great for the game.

almost just went 0-3 in arena over this shit
