Like people whine about low votals and gamefaqs so insular but the fun in these is correctly gauging gamefaqs strength, not who can rally harder. Ten fuckin hentai threads eugh. It is really is poor sportsmanship

I'd say almost all rallies happen because of pure favoritism. Very few would have anything to do with brackets.

I did a hourly registered user trend chart for the match in order to estimate what percentage of registered user votes we should have gotten based on the decrease of overall registered users over the course of the match. Looks like we should have gotten around 48% registered users in this match, but we actually finished with 46.83% registered users. That puts the estimated rally votes around 450 or so. We could have also gotten enough rallied votes to actually flip the result.

Pretty much a complete disaster. Everyone in the Top 148 gets the match wrong. Only 29 out of the Top 999 brackets get the match right.

Honestly even assuming 450 rallied votes for Zelda, that still means it would have been a very close match.

And that match had no business being that close considering Snake, Samus and Sonic.

1. Not all of those votes go to Zelda.
2. Even if 100% of them due, it's still lower than the final margin of victory.
3. Even if you ignore all that anyway (why), Mario gets 200 extra free votes from the registered users by default.

It could have even been higher than 450 rallied votes, because removing 450 votes from Zelda would give Zelda 52.40% with anonymous users (Zelda had 48.82% with registered users). We would still have a fairly large split of about 3.5% between registered and anonymous users even with 450 votes removed from Zelda.

Increasing it to 600 votes removed brings Zelda down to 51.62% with anonymous users and with almost a 3% split between registered and anonymous users.

As of 8:00 PM, Samus has 54.79% with registered users and 57.72% with anonymous users. It seems unlikely that spillover was a major factor because Snake is still losing easily among registered users.
