NFI, some Hulu, and what's being bootlegged on YT. I stick more to dubs, though. Some exceptions, but rare at this point.

I caved and bought vesperia on summer sale even though I really can't afford to spend any money right now. I've wanted to play the "full" version of vesperia for too long. Hopefully the dub switching isn't too noticeable.

I bought it recently too; seemed like the plot was interesting.

I really need to pick up my JRPG game. Despite having several, I haven't finished a Tales game since Phantasia, or any Dragon Quest games at all.

Dang man, tales are my favorite jrpgs and they have some really solid games. I still feel like they haven't really made a perfect one though, hopefully tales of arise manages to be that. IMO the stories are all dumb but the characters are great, the combat is really fun, and the worlds are among the most interesting you see in typical jrpgs (xenoblade has the best worlds though).

It might actually be tough for me to go back and play vesperia since the combat system is a lot slower and less focused on mechanical skill than later entries. I'm also gonna miss being the most OP tales character I've played as, velvet (berseria's MC). Once you really get the hang of her, she's virtually invincible even against enemies that should by all rights oneshot you and her discord (the special used on humans) scream still sticks with me.

I have never played a Tales of game, I remember back in the day I really wanted to play symphonia but never did.

I actually own Tales of Berseria but havent touched it.

Other anime rpgs I own but havent touched:
-The legend of heroes
-Valkyria Chronicles

All 3 really good. Though "Legend of Heroes" is the series not a particular game. The ones we have in english are Trails in the Sky 1+2+3 and Trails of Cold Steel 1+2 (3 and 4 are confirmed). All take dozens of hours to get truly rolling but once they do the payoff is enormous.

I was never able to get into legend of heroes. I've played some of trails in the sky 1 and trails of cold steel 1. Cold steel in particular has a lot going for it IMO but it just doesn't give me any real sense of adventure. I've started it twice and quit on chapter 2 both times. Theres so much information to absorb which ends up getting exhausting and thats true of both games but a lot of the information doesn't actually end up being interesting.

I also feel like the combat system of both games are too slow. I feel the same way about nep games actually too. Any game with that same line up your attack AoE just tend to not be fun for me over time for some reason. Like it's making me solve a puzzle every battle but the puzzle is always the same puzzle with the same solution until you finally learn a new move. At least cold steel has a fantastic PC port complete turbo.

Too many of you are sitting on berseria though. Play that game if you own it.

I had to use a speedhack on 3x-4x speed to get through trails in the sky lol. I think nowadays on steam it has built-in speedup options though but GOD the animations.

Cold Steel gets better in game 2 as well, I think.

Tales is one of my favorite series. Berseria took Symphonia's #2 spot on my list. Vesperia is still king for me though. Really need to get the de version.

I can't remember the last time I sat down and played a Tales game at length. I should go back to the series. ... Have to finish Etrian Odyssey Nexus first, though, that's for sure. And the new Fire Emblem is coming down the pipeline, too.

So I'm a few hours into vesperia now and my god is the combat slow and clunky feeling after playing graces f, zestiria, and berseria as my last 3 tales games. I keep trying to sidestep lol. Feels like it takes an eternity to move after your attack ends. Granted I remember the combat picking up more once you get skills to link more shit together but still, it's tough to go back. Just about to get worst character karol.

You know, I'll give one thing to a lot of the anime I've watched recently -- they don't have shitty cliffhanger endings even if they have unresolved plot points. Live-action is the worst when it comes to stuff like that.

Thanks for these. I took a big nap and feel a lot better. I have lost 2 pounds since yesterday though which is a bit concerning but I was asleep for like 16 hours altogether so hopefully thats not too abnormal.

Yeah, I agree now that I think about it.OPM S2 kind of had a cliffhanger but it wasn't that big a deal.

Managed to rewatch all of Fate / Zero with the missus in a three-day stretch. Because she's never seen the Deen Fate / Stay Night, we're going back and doing that now. I'm pretty sure the version Hulu has is the HD remaster, because I don't remember it looking this good before, and I'm not spotting nearly as many of the infamous animation errors.

We'll probably rewatch U.B.W. again after this. By then, Heaven's Feel II. Lost Butterfly should be arriving. Play Asia only has the three-disc limited edition import (with English subs, like Presage Flower), so ... I've been picking up extra work hours to save up for that. I could get the actual U.S. release, but I'd have to wait an extra three months, and I've waited long enough, IMO.

She and I have already watched that twice before. We're watching Deen because it's just about the only one she hasn't seen (minus Extra Last Encore because it's bizarre and Apocrypha because A-1 Pictures managed to make Fate look like shit).

Well, it's been rough since I last posted. Being outside is so scary now. Seems like I have some trauma from the other day. Even being in the car is tough. Barely made it in to the doctor's. Had a panic attack in the hall leading to the office. My doctor prescribed an anti anxiety med (among other things) that takes 4-6 weeks to work (if it does at all) and usually makes it worse before it gets better. Not sure I can handle that right now. She also told me it would work today which is BS (buspar is the drug) so kinda losing faith in that doctor.

Feeling a bit better after some sleep though. Hopefully I can finish senko-san today. I only have 2 eps left. I might watch some more similar anime after. I've never seen aria and I know some of you talked about that so it's probably next.

It's kind of strange that medication would take that long to take effect.

I'm working another anime con this weekend, and this is probably the least excited I've been for a convention. Mostly because this year it's been an unorganized clusterfuck. It's being held at a hotel just outside of town (despite the fact that the town is in the name of the convention - Tokyo in Tulsa). And I applied for it back in January, and didn't receive any sort of reply one way or the other until less than two weeks ago.

There were supposed to be two work options: paid, or all expenses covered with a bonus guest pass. I wanted to go for paid, but the website wouldn't even let me check that option. So I wrote in a commentary box that I wanted the paid option... didn't pan out.

The department I was working suddenly opened up online shift signups, and by the time I found out about it all the decent shifts were taken, leaving early morning or late night (like 10-2am). I'm getting a ride to the place from someone else so those would have been bad; fortunately my niece is also working there and said another department was looking for more people and I might be able to transfer. I shot an email to the one person that I've been getting information from, and got no response for days. Come to find out today that that person has left the company, and my request apparently fell on deaf ears.

I came to setup today to fill out more paperwork and see if I could transfer, and was turned down. So I'm stuck in this department not even knowing what hours I'll be working, because I didn't sign up for any because I wanted to be transferred to a different department. I'll just show up in the morning and see what we can do. I'm letting them know that I can't work too late. And meanwhile I have a guest pass and no one to give it to.

Watched all of season 2 of One punch man (forgot it was comming out), wow that went fast, and seemed to just...end...like in the middle of a season. Was pretty good I guess, but first season was way better.

Finished Full Metal Panic s1 (or I guess that season is just called Full Metal Panic?), which was pretty fun. Finally starting Kakegurui s2 and, after that, I'll probably watch s2 of the live-action (despite liking the live-action a lot better >_>)

Jessica Jones and a few other shows continue to wait due to anime interruptions.

I wish the rewatch setting for shows on mal had some visualization. There seems to be no way to tell if you've rewatched something without going into its settings. Iirc, it does add eps/time to your list total, but not for the individual entries though. I just added the tag option on my list some time ago and mark things I've rewatched that way.

Speaking of rewatches, I finished rewatching Magi s1+2. I thought it ended off at a worse point, but it's not a terrible spot to end. There's definitely unresolved stuff and more I'd like to see. I did get to relive my disappointment though. In that, they don't do nearly as much adventuring as I was hoping for. Think I'll do Usagi Drop next. Wish there were more shows in the vein of Usagi drop.

Danmachi Season 2 is off to a good start, though it feels a little odd going into it after playing the mobile game for the past year (i.e. it doesn't feel like a new season, it just feels like I'm still going from what I already know). ... Loki rocks a tuxedo, too.

So all hell just broke loose at my con. Well, closer to heck, really, but still bad. Someone turned on a fog machine to the rave for a long time, apparently not realizing that smoke detectors are a thing. Cue the fire alarms, and the entire hotel being evacuated.

That would be bad enough on its own, but when you realize that the large group of people outside a hotel are rowdy geeks fresh from a rave, you got yourself a bad time gumbo. Throngs of unruly costume-clad heathens running amok and singing SpongeBob and Pokemon, with no regard for the hotel, the convention, or even traffic. I'm a pretty timid guy irl and not a leader by any means; it got to the point where *I* had to strap on my Big Boy persona and yell at the crowd to stop running, do not enter the building, and make way for traffic.

I can't imagine the effect this is going to have on the con.

Kakegurui s2 was alright, but too damn short and it resolved even less than s1. The beginning of the first episode was also stupidly abrupt and I was wondering if I had forgotten something that capped off last season until, later on, it rewinds to shit leading up to the game.

The gambles themselves are iirc fewer than what we saw in s1 and also aren't as entertaining. One of the coolest reveals (Sumire's real identity) happens so soon that I'm not sure why they bothered covering it up at all and another later revelation (that Reina is actually a chick, which I guess I should have figured out from the name) feels pretty pointless. Likewise, that final game's resolution just felt weird and I'm not sure where the 3b really came in

I was going to start the LA next, but I don't feel like watching anything subbed tonight and I'm not sure if I want to start anything where I'll likely be trying that Entei event tomorrow which will cut into my day.

Well, only half NEET, since the job I got is an operator of one of those photo booths they have at parties, and I only get paid if there's events and stuff going nearby that rented it out. So my income isn't exactly stable.

Still, it's work, and I get paid. That's enough for me right now.

And now, as my first ever purchase (after rent and food), I'm finally getting a Switch!

Yeah, I only got this job because the head of the company is friends with my aunt-in-law.

So far she only has me as an operator/contractor, but she's said that she's willing to train me personally for a management position if I can do a good enough job and get good reviews by the end of the year, so there's a possibility of a full time salary if things go well.

So yeah, pretty pumped about this. I just hope I don't screw up this major opportunity.

I've been a NEET for 12 years if you don't count trying to develop video games (on my own, nothing to show for the time yet).

I'm still hangin in there btw. Life is pretty rough right now. Since the incident I've had extremely high anxiety. It's kind of like a permanent mild panic attack. Haven't been able to think clearly for over a week. However, each day is a little better than the last. I made it through the weekend so doctor's offices are open again but none returned my calls today annoyingly. Some of the meds I've started have given me blurry vision and I need to talk it over with my doctor. Hopefully they call back tomorrow.

Watched the first 3 eps of vinland saga (which gave me a panic attack sadly but I came back and finished it after I calmed down). Pretty good so far. Kind of annoyed they stopped where they did. The first 3 eps aired all at once so I figured it'd finish up the backstory but it left off on a cliffhanger near the end of the backstory (I think) and it's like 4 weeks from when it aired till episode 4 comes out.

Watched like 3 minutes of the first episode of aria the animation. Hopefully I can properly get into it soon.

You guys have any shows that you really liked, but probably won't ever rewatch for one reason or another? For me, it's Golden Time. I liked that show a lot, but something I really wanted to happen doesn't happen and it just bums me out, so I don't want to see it again.
