Two retired teachers who worked at Riverdale Elementary for over 30 years, including the year Warren was there, told CBS News that they don't remember anyone being explicitly fired due to pregnancy during their time at the school. But Trudy Randall and Sharon Ercalano each said that a non-tenured, pregnant employee like Warren would have had little job security at Riverdale in 1971, seven years before the Pregnancy Discrimination Act was passed.

"The rule was at five months you had to leave when you were pregnant. Now, if you didn't tell anybody you were pregnant, and they didn't know, you could fudge it and try to stay on a little bit longer," Randall said. "But they kind of wanted you out if you were pregnant."

Entirely consistent with her story. Obviously the school board is going to force women to resign and not keep records that they've been systematically targeting women with an unofficial policy on pregnancy. Come on.

It's different because the fines are owed whether or not the voting takes place. Convicts can't get their fines waived by declining to vote.

Unless I'm misunderstanding, the fine is part of the punishment for breaking the law so the idea is that they haven't finished serving their sentence.

Can't say I agree with that though, financial ability shouldn't impede that right. Unless there's a vested interest by the state, mainly done to prevent harm, rights shouldn't be restricted.

Just guessing here but strictly speaking the Florida Supreme Court opinion here has no legal consequences. What happened was DeSantis asked them to issue an advisory opinion to interpret the meaning behind it, not the constitutionality.

They ruled that this is what the Amendment meant by completing their sentence. There was at least one justice who objected to the opinion stating it's completely unreasonable to believe that this is what the voters intended but a consequence of DeSantis winning in 2018 meant he could replace 3 liberal justices with 3 conservatives so "welp"

But this is just me riffing on how they came to this despite it being pretty blatantly a poll tax with what I know about the situation, I don't know for sure what they were thinking.

Theres probably justification for some type of response, but I dont want Trump anywhere near a ramp to escalation and very much hope he lets it go (to the point where I think its a very bad idea for the media to even make a big deal of it because Trump is very easily baited into thinking he has to look tough)

A computer security expert says he found that a forensic image of the election server central to a legal battle over the integrity of Georgia elections showed signs that the original server was hacked.

Some backstory/paraphrasing the more alarming details from the story: This same expert discovered the server was exposed to the open internet for at least six months back in August 2016. Days after election integrity activists filed a lawsuit seeking an overhaul of Georgia's election system in 2017 the server was wiped clean with no notice.

It wasn't until late last month that the plaintiffs were able to get a copy of the server's image from the FBI who kept one.

The expert found evidence of it being compromised in December 2014 with evidence suggesting it exploited a bug that would give an attacker full control of the server. He also finds that the computer logs, which would be crucial to understanding what may have altered/stolen, only go back to November 10, 2016 - two days after the 2016 election.

He also found that election-related files were deleted in March of 2017 right after a colleague of his alerted the group (now dismantled) that Kemp had handling election administration that the server was still vulnerable. He goes on to say it suggests foul play and can't think of any legitimate purpose such a deletion would have.

He could be exaggerating or lying. Maybe he was paid a lot by the Democrats to lie about Trump.

Maybe a motion to dismiss is the way to go here - make clear that the will of the People will be honored no matter what the evidence suggests.

We've known about Tillerson calling Trump a "fucking moron" for a long time now, but this is the deepest dive into the context behind I think we've gotten yet - and it might be one of the most pathetic and petty episodes yet.

The headline quote is the: "You're a bunch of dopes and babies." Trump delivers to a meeting with the Joint Chiefs of Staff + Mattis, Tillerson, Pence, Mnuchin, and Bannon among others.

But you also have him saying, "You're all losers. You don't know how to win anymore.", "I wouldn't go to war with you people.", "Where is the fucking oil?", and ironically, "You would go bankrupt if you had to run your own business."

The whole article is a trip. Most of it is centered on a 2017 meeting in the Pentagon with the people noted above which apparently started as a joint effort by Tillerson, Mattis, and Cohn to try and stage an intervention to explain to Trump in his kind of language the importance of NATO and our other alliances and deployments. With it characterizing it as Bannon thinking that they critically failed by still using internationalist language that triggered Trump and caused the meeting to increasingly go off the rails culminating in his tirade. With Tillerson making the infamous "fucking moron" comment in reference to it after the fact.

Though it also details a future meeting in the Situation Room where it looked to be heading the same way and implies that Tillerson interjecting to head it off is part of what sealed his fate shortly after. Also speaks briefly on how things would turn out for other key players in the room at the time like Mattis and former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs Dunford.

Trump doesn't keep his cabinet in the know about his intentions or the complete picture of what's going on. Trump alone knows that (or maybe the VP and maybe Putin). Trump, the elected official, is in charge and not the unelected cabinet.
