That headline is not what he said but is a hilarious re-imaging but he does recount a meeting where he calls a video game industry exec a "little creep" in a NYT interview. I know right! I saw this in passing a day or two ago (the satirized headline about indie games version), laughed, and moved on thinking "good joke lol" then I saw it come up again and again and I was like "okay i have to investigate this now"

While Kotaku provides the relevant context re: video games specifically, if you go to the NYT directly for the whole interview to go back a bit further the whole thing starts with a question about Facebook running false ads and Biden's thoughts on its power and the power of tech companies and Silicon Valley in general. There's some discussion on it and the NYT gets to a question about Silicon Valley's power expanding under Obama which is the question directly before Kotaku's excerpt starts and Biden just offers it up himself and it's like wait what?

Kotaku brings up 3 different meetings they think might be possible as the one Biden refers to. The one that seems most in line with the context around Biden and the NYT's question because of the Leahy connection is a 2012 one close to SOPA but they note it might emotionally make more sense for Biden to be so charged up if he's conflating it with a meeting a year later in the wake of Sandy Hook.

the reason they knock points off sanders is age and health, saying he'd be 79 sworn in and that's too old. which i can agree with but you can't then turn around and endorse warren - 70 is still old. it ain't that much better for a high stress job. and the tag-line used is awful. "Good news, then, that Elizabeth Warren has emerged as a standard-bearer for the Democratic left." what a fucking joke.

their answer to pete is "oh he hasn't won enough stuff."
answer to Yang is "oh he doesn't have experience in government," which is partially true, though it removes the fact that he was hand picked by Obama to being on a board focused on entrepreneurial growth.
they give a ton of praise to bloomberg then criticize him a bit but he's got more of a blurb than everyone so far so lol no.
they get to biden and point his age out again. which hey, i agree with, but it's hypocritical to act like 70 and 77 are that off - they ain't, especially for someone trying to be president. you are in or around life expectancy range and that's without the added stress of the job.

most confusing is they think Klobuchar has "midwestern charisma."

Though I would say that also in Warren's favor besides the fact that I think 7-9 years is actually somewhat significant in this range is that AFAIK she doesn't have any major health problems.

There was also another video of Biden in the Senate from 20-30ish years ago Sanders' people were pushing a while ago that they claimed showed he supported cutting social security, but watching it in context showed that he not making that point at all (can't find it at the moment).

If you are 70 and healthy you have a far greater chance of making it to 78 than you have of making it to 87 if you are 79 and healthy.

It is a significant difference between the two. Age is cruel but it is a very real thing.

And while Biden was vice president the Obama administration attempted to get a "grand bargain" with Republicans that would have traded massive cuts to Social Security and Medicare in return for some modest tax hikes on the rich, with the overall goal of cutting the deficit just as Biden had been trying to do for his whole Senate career. (It only fell through because far-right Republicans refused to accept any compromise.)

Politifact is stretching the definition of false to defend Biden, and its totally irresponsible.

If you search the transcript, you can see that his argument is that IF the Senate is to consider freezing spending through a Balanced Budget Amendment, they need to be honest with Americans that that will involve freezing social security and medicare as well, because that's where most of the government spending is (i.e. you can't balance the budget by cutting a bunch of little programs your don't like).
