You can be angry about it all you want, but the fact is, being obese isn't healthy, and people are happier when they are healthier.

By all means, be positive about your body and the way you look. There are certainly enough people in the world that love the way an obese body is shaped. But even if we accept that the best way to be a beautiful human being is to eat as much as possible and gain as many pounds as possible, it isn't healthy, and being unhealthy isn't something that should be encouraged even if we say it is more aesthetically pleasing to be that way. The same principle is true with pumping your body full of steroids or starving yourself to the point of anorexia. Its one thing to be positive about the way your body looks and another to encourage unhealthy behaviors.

Why does it matter so much to you whether a singer is healthy and happy? Are you also super concerned about, I dunno, male movie stars that have drug addictions? Was it super important to let everyone know how unhealthy they were all the time and harass them about changing?

I'd like to point out male or female, drug abuse and obesity isn't something that should be defined as healthy.

I didnt say it was. I said that people tend to focus on feminine people and their weight and not spend nearly as much time talking about and harassing others about the other things.

Woman get more attention because it's more celebrated and embraced that their weight at any size is beautiful, and some go too far to even call it healthy. There's an empowering movement that men should accept a woman at any size, and to not it's being fat phobic.

Fat men are not generally paraded around as much as woman, for being something people should just accept the way they are.

A woman turning down a fat man for being a fat guy is less frowned upon than a man turning down a woman for being fat woman.

Theyve always been celebrated for being manly. Fat men were shown being with thin, conventionally beautiful women all the time. See: every sitcom ever. So now the celebrating of fat women is a reaction to that.

Fat men in today's society are most definitely not celebrated as manly athletic men that woman should love regardless of a man's weight.

I mean it's definitely a movement, just Google a few. Tiktok, Instagram and social media in general has influencers who pushed it as well.

I mean. Thats not really true even on the surface. Are we pretending dad bod isnt a whole thing? Are we pretending there isnt a ton of media about a fat guy dating conventionally attractive women? like, again, literally every sitcom ever? James Cordens entire career? Fucking Family Guy, even? And going back further to the foundations of comedy sitcoms, the Simpsons? A dynamic you see in a million other places, including real life.

For the most part, in my experience women care far less about weight. this isnt saying unfair standards for men dont exist: there is definitely still a focus on athletic, muscular dudes with abs. But its never been as stark or pervasive as it is for women, and fat men have always been treated better than fat women.

Its only very recently one section of society has decided to not treat fat women like shit, and as you can see the pushback was immediate and strong.
