I'm not entirely sure how much importance CON has to elementalists as a secondary, but a race that boosts both CHA and CON might be worthwhile.

And again, you want 13 DEX to qualify for Dual Implement Spellcaster as soon as possible.

CON is pretty decent for them, no doubt. Kinda surprised you're open to that class though Scep, since it's a very Essentials class!

You know, even if the Battle Cleric's Lore swap is legal (seems like it could be, but I was unable to find a clear answer), it's not as good an AC boost as what I get from Hybrid Talenting.

EDIT: There's also the problem that the Builder really, really doesn't want me doing that one. Just having it call my character houseruled is fine, but I'd have to mod CBLoader to get it to accept the feature swap.

The rest sounds perfectly fine, though; I'll probably take Superior Implement Proficiency as the extra feat there.

It isn't? You sure about that? It's 7 base AC, plus +2 from masterworks, plus +2 shield bonus. Armor of Faith gets you something like...+3 base, +4 stats, +2 IAoF, but 0 masterworks. Elven Chain Shirt does even it up, but then again Bloodiron adds to Scale further if you really wanna juice defenses up. It's closeish, but the gap can widen a ton with certain items.

And yeah, happy to help with the rest :)

Your init won't be as good

And by 'not as good' you mean 'horrible'... That's a pain.

Silvery Glow and Invoker's Blaze both provide feat bonuses to the same thing, so it's a waste of time.

Durrrrr, totally failed to notice that. That way you can get battle intuition though, so it's a nice trade.

PS: Don't sweat low init. It's never stopped Valerian, who still has rather tame initiative even post-Kirie + Brona. If it really worries you, buy a Battle Harness!

There's too little feat room!

I mean, I guess I can put off Painful Oath and Silvery Glow (which is better than the radiant booster I was previously using, if we're doing this pantheon worshipping thing). But it's a pain. And the others are really hard to justify getting rid of.

Hold on...here's what I've got for easy results:

Feat 1: Divine Healer (Sub in Battle Cleric's Lore).
Feat 2: WP Fullblade
Feat 3: Mighty Crusader Expertise
Feat 4: Power of Skill
Feat 5: Power of the Sun
Feat 6: Silvery Glow
Feat 7: Painful Oath
Feat 8: Invoker's Blaze

Net result: Boosted AC (by a ton - plus your Hybrid Talent is open for shenanigans down the line), you have what is effectively an MBA on roids, you can grant vulnerability at-will with Sun Strike and Solar Enemy, you have your damage booster, plus whatever the hell Invoker's Blaze does. If you don't much care about crits, you can take WP Fullblade out for Superior Implement Proficiency. Your init won't be as good and your defenses will be briefly lower, but overall the package is worth it. What do you think of this?

Yes, but it's not illegal to take Sword of Hestavar. You can just say you worship... Erathis, wasn't it? and then ignore it flavorwise. No problem. Here you have to worship two different gods. That's an illegality by rules, or at least by the builder, which is complaining.

Not that I would mind changing to the Power of Skill thing.

Nah, it's definitely not illegal. Look at the LFR rules - they have to explicitly ban pantheon worshipping because the PHB lets you but that'd make life too easy for divine characters (jerks!). So you can go for it. I can get you the specific quote if you need the proof.

EDIT: Also, if you're going Morninglord, I highly highly recommend taking Sun Strike and Power of the Sun - or really, just Power of the Sun, plus a Radiant Boon, no need for Sun Strike though it helps. Dealing Vulnerability 11 out one, two or even three times per encounter? 'yes please'.

Bond of Censure is hardly trash, it's the second-best Avenger at-will. It's just that you're comparing it to Overwhelming Strike. But I'm attempting to make someone that's good with ranged. Furthermore, I can't take Power of Skill unless I bend the rules, because I'm already forced into worshipping a deity that doesn't have that domain.

You can worship an entire pantheon by RAW. And the PHB-approved argument aside, I very much doubt Ana'd disapprove allowing domain feats to be taken normally. Remember that the universe used to be godless, and nobody objected to taking Sword of Hestavar.

His health is the same as Brona's too.

I dunno, your advice is theoretically good, but in practice no matter how much I wade into melee I rarely find myself in immediate danger. Brona's a little better off in some ways because he has Storm Soul defense, but his defenses are also lower overall. Not that Unarmored Agility is a waste of time, but it's hard to slot in when I'd rather put feats into accuracy and damage stuff.

(Thinking about it Brona's defenses are gonna start sucking hard if I ever stop using the artifact, though. That's a pain.)

There's also the issue that your at-wills don't mesh either. Bond of Censure is kind of pretty trash tbqh, and it's absolutely worth a feat to get Power of Skill'd Overwhelming Strike. This also lets you have RBA Divine Bolts, which is pretty sweet too.

As for Brona, the key thing is that, so far, we haven't faced bosses with abundant forced movement. This protects him a lot, because it means that, once Valerian and Vanessa start their stand-and-bang dance, the enemy is pretty much never ever going to get away, because he'd eat one to three punishes for the privilege. If we ever see a boss that has something like 'minor action: push all enemies in Close Burst 1 3 squares', he's gonna get thrashed hardcore.

PS: This actually makes me wonder though - it's true that Brona's reached maximum concordance with Vega's Dagger, and been there for a while. I wonder if it'll move on?

This is wrong though. Some of the best and most vicious parodies (I dare say most of the best, even) come from people who dearly love what they are ripping to shreds, and the mockery is a way to express how deeply they know their subject. Same way you probably call some of your friends by nicknames that are demeaning when taken out of context, but in context imply affection. Mockery doesn't come from ignorance, that's hatred - which sometimes leads to mockery, but not always.

He isn't talking about parody or poking fun at your buddies. He is talking about vicious mockery with the intent to hurt people. I don't think he is complaining about brilliant, loving parody of religion.

Yes, but Grim Blackguard works off the vice you got. It's an equally strong thematic fit as Gray Guard (but for entirely different reasons), but I'm not gonna shackle any of the crewmembers with crap PPs for lulz.

Neither of the blackguard vices I saw fit her. I'm considering just homebrewing one for her.
What would her vice be? The Vice of Void? Indecision? Loyalty?

I'm not sure. Vices imply some kind of massive character flaw from which you nevertheless gain strength, but I can't think of something like that for her.

This is why I was thinking Loyalty, since she's devoted to evil because it...deserves devotion, more or less, if I remember her words. But yeah, she's really more of a paladin tbqh.

EDIT: Alternatively, crackpot idea: Vice of Love, because her love of evil compels her to do dark things, but gives her strength.

I was thinking either Entrancing Mystic or Praetor Legate for Ederax, Flamebrow Commander or Twiceborn Leader for Atharathes, and a modded Dreamwalker for Reen. Seriously, you tell me that path doesn't fit her PERFECTLY. Just replace INT with CON and Implement with Weapon and it's...her.

And as for Teracor, our final Paragon ally...probably either Gray Guard or Grim Blackguard. As a note, what Vice does she adscribe to? Domination seems like the obvious one, but I could be wrong.

If it means going back to smashing skulls and running from one place to another, then pass on the second option. If instead it means talking with the Cult's remnants and/or Vivi (emphasis on talking), I wouldn't mind doing some cult stuff on the way...but right now, Valerian is focused on finding Teracor first and foremost. Everything else kind of takes a backseat now that the Raelites AREN'T going to blow the world up right the hell now.

Hmm. Well, I think that's a way to look at it, but as I see it, good vs evil is about motives, and method is for law vs chaos. So I'd be inclined to discard method entirely.

Ah, OK, this is more understandable then. To me, good vs. evil is basically empathy, while law vs. chaos is all about ethics. This is why Vivi is screamingly evil to me now, while also not being particularly chaotic.

You're confusing method with motive.

In this case, method is what matters though. Our point is basically that, if you're gonna rape a baby to get back at someone, that makes you evil - it's not necessarily your thirst for revenge that drives you to evil, but the actions you commit. Bringing Rael back to the world is so much worse than baby raping that they're like the difference between a 1.0 and 11.5 magnitude earthquakes - both are tragic, but one is just bad while the other is world-endingly horrifying.

This is the quote. So no, I doubt it. You don't go from sarcasm to talking about the reason you're out for blood. It was heartfelt, just a minor thing compared to the death of her sister.

No, that was actually kind of sarcastic or bitter, as I read it. But also probably a true sentiment. But I'm pretty sure we have a good friend in our crew who also used to be motivated by greed to join up with Rael. What was her name? Raita? No, I must be thinking of someone else, there's no crewmember by that name.

I don't see how this changes things though? Just because Raita turned a new leaf doesn't mean she stopped having a bloody past. Similarly, you're not going to catch me arguing that Valerian's actions were good and just when he helped detonate an universe - they were just the *least bad*. What Vivi is doing is one of the worst possible things you could do, and not with good intentions either. She's acting evilly. She's not doing this to see her daughter resurrected either, which would make it misguided as you said - she just wants to watch us burn.

Adam Sokol (20:45:37): "The first is that I enjoy serving the Master. I legitimately do! I'm immortal, I'm powerful, I have friends, I have enemies, I have everything a girl could ever ask for. So yes, if I'm his toy, it's because I choose to be, because he offers to much to his toys."
Adam Sokol (20:45:42): "Now the second is this."
Adam Sokol (20:46:28): Vivi looks at the floor before looking up. "I bet you didn't know that I had a sister." She smiles. "She was much younger than me. So much younger, in fact, that because I'm immortal, I just told her that I was her mother. I doted on her, and the reason I let you take Learrette off of my hands was because I wanted to spend more time with her. She was smart, beautiful, and away from Rael, and I liked it that way."

This is the quote. So no, I doubt it. You don't go from sarcasm to talking about the reason you're out for blood. It was heartfelt, just a minor thing compared to the death of her sister.

No, Vivi as she told us, is invariably Neutral Evil.

Alignments aren't a good judge of anything, and furthermore she's clearly Chaotic.

Point: She wants to bring back Rael because she LIKES serving him because she LIKES all the cool things that he gives her. This is motivation to forsake the world because of GREED.

Did she actually say that? I have a very bad memory, but that seems out of character. I know the artificer cultists did, but I got the impression Vivi wanted to bring back Rael to spite us.

Point: She is willing to commit to the murder of several individuals because she believes they are the root of her problems. Yes, perhaps Amy did some dick things that got Vivi in major trouble, and yes, perhaps the decision to reboot the universe erased her loved ones. She is also very much willing to kill those people ASSOCIATED with the group that had absolutely no say in what was done (Vance) or more or less had their hands forced/they were otherwise coaxed into the decision they made (Kirie, Brona).

Acknowledged, but she wasn't even there to know these particular points. All she knows is that the party was responsible.

Vivi is very evil. Oh, and a choice little quote, "YOU WILL BE RAPED LAST, VANCE". Yeah.

All you've really proven is that she's Chaotic Angry.

Paraphrase of Vivi, which is really really close to what she said: 'I've got magic, immortality, friends, enemies...what else could a girl possibly want?'. Yes, she said as much. This is seriously a really close quote scep - I can fish for the exact quote if you want.

No she didn't. She wants us dead because she hates our guts. As she said, it's a matter of vengeance. There's no self deception.

Yes, this is all true, but I'm not talking about that, but rather what she expects to get out of it. Unless her motivation is really cartoonishly simple ('to see you all dead'), then she's not going to get what she wants out of bringing Rael back. There's also that whole little speech she gave us about 'being the servant to the worst tyrant ever is the dream job', which implies a colossal lack of empathy...and empathy is the thing that defines goodness in D&D, and arguably in real life too (though this is a much more complicated subject since so much goes into our concept of goodness, while D&D's is much simpler).

EDIT: Accel kinda ninja'd me and said it better while at it. That's the size of it.

Well what else did she lie about, specifically?

Just to clarify, she didn't lie to us - but to herself. Those are the false pretenses she's under.

That we (directly) caused her sister's death and (indirectly) caused her to be tortured? Not seeing the lie yet.

No, not that. Looking toward the future, not the past.

There aren't any false pretenses involved. I'd call her misguided rather than evil.

If you can't call what she told herself to justify her actions lies...well...

I have a slight bias towards the NPCs that make me laugh over the NPCs that are just kind of... evil. There's nothing wrong with Vivi she's just taken a new role which is less entertaining, though she fills the role well enough.

Edit: Saya is officially a sort of anomaly, her inclusion primarily because, as somebody said, a legitimately helpful AND powerful NPC is a nice and interesting change.

She's evil because she blames the party for her sister's death and her own torture? But alright, I see where you're coming from there.

She's evil because she's justifying her selfish desires with false pretenses, and taking a path that will harm creation out of a sense of hollow satisfaction. It's a bit deeper than that.
