I enjoyed it but thought the 2005 Doom was better overall even if the background story is different from the lore. That being said, I enjoyed the 2012 Dredd movie more as it felt more true to the comics.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 is the only Switch game I have so I guess my favorite Switch game default to that. However I am looking forward to Bravely Default 2 which will probably take the throne.

If we're referring to Christmas Day specifically, I'll be spending it alone because my family, relatives, and friends have already had our get-together or will be having it later in the week/month. Sounds bit odd but it is actually more convenient in terms of dealing with traffic and most folks are out-of-town during the week of Christmas.

I think my friends are/were just loud in general even if they can handle their alcohol. Of course the bouncers that the guy following us cannot assume that so all they see if a bunch of folks being noisy and better to keep the peace and spare the other patrons the noise.

This is very rare though as it's easy to just go elsewhere. Sometimes literally next door.

Friends and I were bar hopping one time for a birthday party with a golf theme and each bar is a hole. If you don't order a drink that is one par, going to the restroom is another par, etc. etc.

My friends had been drinking since maybe 6pm when I finally arrived at 9pm. Interesting enough some guy with a radio started to follow us. We were a group of 12-15 and some were wearing golf clothes so we stood out.

Eventually all the bars started turning us away, even bars we have not been to yet. One of the bouncers even said they knew we have been around since 6pm, drinking.

I am not surprised to see the various bars working together to keep the peace but it was my first time experiencing something that. This was in Downtown Fullerton, CA if that matters.

Personally I have always felt the series as a whole being kind of a niche thing but I think Square Enix's approach with making pre-order awards based on the number of pre-orders (i.e. X number of pre-orders equal this award, Y number of pre-orders equal this award) may have really hurt its sales.

Same here. I really enjoyed the series but also feel because of it being a prequel there is only so much that "it is about the journey and not the destination" can do for the games.

I find myself replaying the original once every year or so but for some reason can never get myself to use a loud and violent approach. I always feel compelled to sneak in, knockout everyone, and then casually walk out the front door.

I do wonder if the resistance against poison and diseases could extend ones life. To my understanding it is often the weakening of our body's immune system as we get older that puts us at risk of diseases leading to our deaths.

Got a Mission Impossible vibe to it which I am actually fine with. After dealing with god-like beings in the other Marvel movies, I'm content with a more down-to-Earth story. I did have to look up who the Red Guardian is. Think I am only familiar with maybe less than 10-20% of Marvel characters.

Oddly enough I was selected for the panel screening the last two or three times I was called in for jury duty. I was honest in my responses and was not trying to weasel my way out but each time one of the lawyers would ask me to be dismissed. Granted one of those times I actually dozed off or mentally phase out when called to answer some questions.

Interesting. I am looking at my account now and do agree it seems they make it difficult to cancel as a precaution. My recurring renewal is turned-off but when I attempt to just cancel it early it keeps saying "but the subscription has been paid for till XX-XX-XX". After a warning that cancelling early will not give a refund it proceed to say it cannot cancel since the subscription is active.

EDIT: Looking at my email history, seems when I subscribed in June and turned-off the auto renewal that setting actually stuck since I was not charged anything until few months later when I renewed it again.

Personally I like the appearance/concept of a flamer and power claw/fist but I feel a flamer is almost too much of a "close combat" weapon that combining it with a power claw will be odd. That said I'd say go for the assault cannon for some good ol dakka dakka.

I'm 36 years old, not anymore I'd say. Most folks that I knew in college who are Facebook friends are 29-40 years old now. At this point most stories people are sharing are of their families or their travels.

Now I am curious as to what line of work do you folks do where your manager is smarter or not compared to you. At least within the STEM field, I'd imagine most managers would be smarter/more experienced than those they manage over.

In my case, my manager does have a lot of experience but he would still yield to the more experienced engineers even though those engineers are under his management.

Yes. My manager is not an engineer but he has over 30-40 years of experience over me in our line of work and though certain things he may not be able to explain/justify via numbers, he will know from experience whether or not certain things can work.

Even though experience does not automatically means quality work, I think it would depends as I can understand needing experience for management level type positions or operating complex machinery. At the same time even if a company ask for X years of experience, if the work is not complicated I'd imagine it is possible to learn on the spot.

Discord's privacy elements are complete f***ing garbage.

My friend did mention that as one downside of Discord and how it supposedly sharing our data. I am not bothered by that nor the extra bells and whistles. But as mentioned, I do like the simplicity of Ventrilo but for now Discord is convenient for our needs.

Actually since 2002. This is my second account. I didn't start using Discord till maybe several months ago when my Final Fantasy XIV guild started using the program. Like I said, the $2 per month cost with Ventrilo was too low to register on my mind and the thought simply never crossed our minds to use another service. When I use to raid in World of Warcraft from 2006 to 2012ish, my guild used Ventrilo so I kinda just stuck with it.

Friends and I have been using Ventrilo for years and paying $2 per month for five voice chat slots. When we need to send any links or contact each other outside of Ventrilo we would use Line or Steam. We switched over to Discord last night and I am baffled with myself that we did not make the switch sooner.

Between it being free and both chat room and voice chat combined, it perfectly fit our needs. I think we only did not switch out of Ventrilo sooner was because the $2 per month fee was so low to even register on our minds and partly cause we were mindlessly using Ventrilo without a thought of using any other until last night.

That being said. Anything particularly bad about Discord that services/programs like Mumble, Ventrilo, and Teamspeak continue to be used? I do like Ventrilo for its simplicity but am not bothered by all the "flashiness" of Discord.

I'm torn between waiting for a sale on Steam or getting Origin Basic for $15 for a month to play the game. Based on gameplay videos I have seen, I think I will enjoy it. Combat seems more methodical and less "actiony" compared to Force Unleashed, which I am happy about. I personally prefer the slower combat system of Jedi Outcast, Jedi Academy, and Dark Souls (which I have heard some comparison to), so overall will probably enjoy Jedi Fallen Order.

As someone who abused Quick Save in Jedi Outcast/Academy but also accustomed to the Dark Souls series, where does the difficulty of Jedi Fallen Order stand on Normal or the highest difficulty?

Personally it is for the peace of mind that the product via Amazon (excluding third party vendors) is more legit. That is not to say Amazon is flawless but I'd rather deal with Amazon should there be issues than with a third party vendor.

I've had a third party vendor once claimed the new/used "official" Amazon Kindle case they sold me only looked different because it was fixed up.

Aye. The customer service of Amazon is why I like them more even if certain products cost more on Amazon. As an example. When I complained to Amazon about that third party vendor giving me an imitation of the Kindle case, not only did Amazon refunded me but also gave me a $30 gift card to make up for the hassle. Personally I think offering me the gift card was excessive and I refused it but that act alone is why I like their services.

Some years back a few of my friends and I were hanging out and watching one of us play either Jedi Outcast or Jedi Academy. Whether through a cheat or a fully upgraded Mind Trick, my friend took control of an enemy and walked over the edge to his (the enemy's) death. We all busted out laughing till our sides hurt as none of us expected something like that to be possible.

2) Those that know to cancel after the year and put it under their spouses/roommates/partners name and get the promotional price again.

Not with cable but that's what my friend and his brother do with their internet. They keep cancelling and take turns joining-up again to get the first year promotional price.

Thank you for the laugh. I wished Genisys focused on the war and concluded with Reese being sent back in time. I thought that woulda been a fitting end by coming full circle back to how the series started. Overall I enjoyed it but I wished they didn't reboot the story.

Already pre-subscribed. The one-year and three-years commitment were tempting especially given the reduction in monthly cost but I'll be fine with the currently monthly payment. Definitely looking forward to the ol cartoons and Mandalorian.

If folks have multiple streaming services I can definitely see the cost adding up to be on par or more than cable. But for me who will only be paying for Disney+, it is overall cheaper.

Interesting. Audience reviews on Rotten Tomato stands at 84% compared to the audience giving Genisys 53%. Kinda curious where the difference lies. Personally I probably would knock Genisys down some number of points for rebooting the timeline/story instead of closing the circle. With Dark Fate I might be more accepting only because of Genisys already going down that route.

My friends and I probably have all-you-can-eat sushi once or twice a year I'd say. There's one place in Las Vegas and another in Los Angeles that are our go-to spots. There is another place that isn't all-you-can-eat but they have a really good chirashi bowl.
