| PK_Spam 02/19/18 11:19:08 PM #1 | BTW spoilers for Pirates 1 below, so... yeah. It's been 15 years. If you haven't seen Pirates of the Caribbean by now, that's totally your problem. Say what you want about how meh part 2 was or... whatever the hell 3 was, but Pirates 1 still holds up as a genuinely well-written show that everyone should watch once in a while. It's good. Genuinely good. Will and Elizabeth are the main characters. Jack Sparrow is the foil. Barbosa is the antagonist (of course). Will and Elizabeth are the first characters we see. But that doesn't matter in conventional storytelling. We see some of Hogwarts' teachers before we even see Harry. "But that's not the same thing, PK_Spam! The people from Hogwarts are there to set the story up. We're supposed to already know that Harry Potter is the main character in Harry Potter." Yeah, okay, but titles aren't necessarily everything. Frodo was the main character in Lord of the Rings and he wasn't the lord of anything, much less Sauron's thingamajig. Lord of the Rings spoilers: Anyway, Will and Grace...  Sorry. Will and Elizebeth are the first characters we see, but they're also the first characters whose narrative arcs we're introduced to. And the story is predicated on them and only them. Jack Sparrow helps out and uses them to satisfy his own ends, but he ultimately does what he does because he genuinely likes the two of them, and without their help anyway, Jack wouldn't have been able to even make it half as far as he did, but that's a whole thing. It's ultimately Will and Elizabeth's actions that resolve the plot. Will's able to lift the curse, and Elizabeth comes in with a save, twice, in the end of the movie. Once in the grotto and once again at the very end when she helps JS escape. Jack actually isn't really a super prominent driving force throughout the movie. It's Will that gets Jack back in the ocean. It's Will that breaks the curse. It's Elizabeth that drives Jack to initially enter everyone's lives. And it's Elizabeth who uses her smarts to escape the deserted island after Jack gives up and resolves himself to die there while he gets drunk on liquor. Yeah, Jack is the driving force that lets them get shit done.. but so was Han Solo... and nobody thinks he's the main character, because he doesn't have as complex a narrative arc as Luke and Leia.. --- |

Jack makes a big show and manipulates Barbosa s crew into going after the Navy, which is all well and good, but he gets into this long fight scene. I mean... was the point of that so Will could fight the leftover pirates that were left in the grotto? But Will never wouldve been able to kill them either. So what was the point? Had Elizabeth not showed up, Will wouldve been killed and Barbosa wouldve won, and Jack wouldve been murdered on the spot. Like, I understand that things just work out for Jack, but that was literally a plan that wouldve ended up with everyone getting killed. --- |

| PK_Spam 02/19/18 1:21:28 AM #1 | Along with a short description of what it is, and a video, if you want. I'd like to see what all of you watch on your downtime. Charisma on Command: A channel where the main focus is to teach you how to be more confident and charismatic. But more than that, he talks about characters on television, and celebrities and how the come across as genuinely likable people, and how they react to things in ways that are effective and to the point. Excuse the clickbaity thumbnail for this video, because it has a lot to say and it's really interesting what he has to say about subtle movements people make in stressful situations.  Overly Sarcastic Productions: So this channel is pretty much 3 in one. There are two people who focus their efforts here. One, Blue, focuses on history and summarizes things pretty well, in ways that capture the context of events in an easy to digest manner. What I want to focus on is Red, who handles the other two parts. She specializes in story, one half of which is where she examines common storytelling tropes. The other is where she summarizes myths, novels, and everything in between. All with cute/funny pictures to help show everything off.  Mother's Basement: This one is a little less general interest as it focuses on anime. He genuinely always has something interesting to say, and I've gotten into a lot of really good shows because of his recommendations. This was the hardest one for me to find a video for, because they're all really good. So I just chose something that's relatively short (some of his videos go over 30 minutes!), and because, here, he rips apart SAO, and that's always a fun thing to watch people do.  --- |

Hes always been lonely since he was a boy, when his mother died. He had always been a happy, normal child, but he loved his mother a lot. So much. Like, so much that its stupid and unrealistic how much he loved her. He literally loved her so much as a child that flashbacks makes him look stupid for it because that was his only trait. Anyway, she dies/got killed and he found that his father lacked the emotional necessities of a proper parental figure. But his dad was stupid rich, and The Guy now had free access to a vast library right in the house. What does young, impressionable The Guy get into most and first? BDSM. His dad had huge tomes that described stupid crazy BDSM mechanisms. In shelves able to be reached by a small child. Or maybe they were in the restricted section, and that tantalized Young The Guy. Anyway, The Guy grew up lonely, and this soured him. So he simultaneously made huge efforts to push everyone away, while also lamenting that no one would ever love him... Even though hes the one making them go away in the first place. That is, until... The Girl (Gray?): She had a normal life. Normal friends. Normal adventures. And perfectly normal sex growing up. The sex bored her, but she was a naive cherry who didnt know what else there was out there. Or maybe she was a virgin, and put her studies above romance and carnal pleasures. She was a being who existed beyond the normal desires of others and their sexual desires. Shes a blank canvas. Infinite possibilities and a perfect fucking surface to spooge all over. An excellent mannequin for someone to project their personality on her, because, secretly, shes all about sex, but her professional demeanor doesnt hint at it. By putting up an emotional and physical layer of utter nonsexuality, she proves that shes better than all of the OTHER girls by basing her logic and decision on sound logic, and only succumbs to... cumming... when she knows theres a spark there ( Book 1: The Girl goes and meets the guy (Call to Adventure), has adventures, and at the end of the book, he ramps up the sexual carnage even more. The Girl has to make the decision whether she wants to do it (resisting the call), but by the end she crosses the threshold (Crossing the Threshold) and continues on. End Act 1. Book 2: Our book of emotional low points and the meaty part of the story. The BDSM challenges initially prove too much, for The Girl (Obstacles). She contemplates dropping out forever, but ultimately decides not to and comes back with a renewed sexual energy and desire. But things get harder and The Girls young, supple body eventually gives out. But she gets back up (Death and ReBirth To be continued in Book 2: Part 2 Act 2. Later. --- |

If, by some miracle, I get some clout as a writer someday, one of the first things Im gonna do after my passion projects is produce a straight up adaptation of the comics. Yall wont understand, but the Scott Pilgrim got me through some really tough times as a lonely high school kid with almost no friends. I think theres always gonna be a spot in my heat for that series, alongside a bunch of other shows I practically raised myself on. --- |

The dishwasher is literally right next to the left basin. Why cant they just put the dishes to dry in there instead of the other section of the sink? It bothers me so much that I wind up washing all of those dishes again, because the thought of anything touching the floor of the sink makes my skin crawl, no matter how much I clean it. And they never listen to me when I talk to them about it either *grumble grumble* --- |

Honestly, the mundane parts of the first Incredibles were the best aspects of the first movie, so Im glad Pixar didnt decide to make the entire thing a nonstop action thriller from start to finish. --- |
